Sioux Valley Conference
The Sioux Valley Conference was a high school athletic conference in northwest Iowa that existed until 1988–89. The conference dates back to at least the early 1930s and is notable for its stability throughout its history. From 1949 until 1988, no school left or joined the league, although a few schools did grow through consolidation over the years. During its existence, it was one of the premier small school conferences in the state for boys' sports, boasting six state champions in basketball, two in football (in the 9 short years it coexisted with the state playoffs), and six in track & field. Former Members In the 1980s, a series of consolidations led to Hartley being rebranded as Hartley–Melvin and Milford as Okoboji. In 1988, Paullina, Primghar, and Sutherland entered a three-way sharing agreement and became known as the South O'Brien Wolverines. Hartley–Melvin also merged with Sanborn to become the H-M-S Hawks. Siouxland Conference
The Siouxland Conference is a ten team high school athletic conference in the northwest corner of Iowa, consisting of schools ranging from the smallest class (1A) to the third largest class (3A), and known for its prominence in small school basketball. Members Incoming Member Common cooperatives History The Siouxland Conference was founded in 1952 and began play in the 1953–54 school year. Originally the league was made up of: Inwood, George and Rock Rapids from Lyon County; Orange City, and Hawarden from Sioux County; and Akron and Le Mars Gehlen from Plymouth County. Rock Valley replaced Augustana Academy of Canton, South Dakota, in 1960. West Sioux of Hawarden left the conference in 1965, and rejoined for a short period in the 1970s. Okoboji High School
Okoboji High School is a rural public high school in Milford, Iowa. It is the primary senior high school in the Okoboji Community School District. Their mascot is Pioneer Pete. The school district serves Milford, Arnolds Park, most of Fostoria, most of Okoboji, Wahpeton, and West Okoboji. The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Its female counterpart, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, (IGHSAU) is an associate member. Iowa is the only state that maintains separate governing bodies for boys' and girls' athletics.
