Sinhala Buddhist College, Matale (Sinhala language, Sinhala: මාතලේ සිංහල බෞද්ධ විද්යාලය), or (SBC), is a Private school (Sri Lanka), semi-government Buddhist school located in Matale, Sri Lanka. The school offers kindergarten, primary education, primary and secondary education, and is a private school in Matale, Sri Lanka. History The school was established in 2014 under the guidance of Galkulame Uparathana Thero, Senior Lecturer of Sinhala and Modern Language Studies Department of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. Before 2014, the school was registered as the Aloka Vidyalaya in 1957 by P.B. Ekanayake, which was later demolished in 1997. The Sri Lankan Advanced Level (A-level), formerly known as the Higher School Certificate (HSC), is a General Certificate of Education (GCE) qualification exam in Sri Lanka, similar to the British Advanced Level. Scholarship Examination
The Scholarship Examination (also known as the Grade 5 exam) is a highly competitive Sri Lankan examination first introduced in 1947, conducted by the Department of Examinations of the Ministry of Education. It is optional for students to undertake it during the final year of primary school (Grade 5; usually aged 9–10). Based on the results of the exam, students could transfer to prominent national schools. The exams are held in two mediums: Sinhala and Tamil. Daranagama Kusaladhamma Thero (29 July 1963 – 3 March 2018) () was a Sri Lankan Sinhalese Buddhist monk who founded the first Sri Lankan Buddhist media network and the television channel, The Buddhist. He served as the chief incumbent of the Colombo Sri Sambodhi Viharaya and the Sambodhi Community Development Foundation in London. He died on 3 March 2018 at the age of 54. The Buddhist is the first Buddhist television channel for Sri Lanka. The Buddhist channel studios are located at Sri Sambodhi Vihara (Temple) that is situated in Colombo, Sri Lanka.the first being DMC.TV It is available on the Sri Lankan Direct to Home satellite television services Dialog TV and Dish TV. The service also operates on PEO TV and cable TV.
