Battle Of Singoli
The Battle of Singoli (1336 CE) was fought between the forces of Mewar, led by Hammir Singh, and the Tughlaq forces, led by Mohammad bin Tughlaq, at Singoli, in present-day Madhya Pradesh, India, in which Hammir Singh defeated Tughlaq forces and took Muhammad bin Tughluq as a prisoner. Hammir Singh had gained control of Mewar by evicting Maldev's son Jaiza, the Chauhan vassal of the Delhi Sultanate. Jaiza fled to the Delhi court of Muhammad bin Tughluq, prompting Tughlaq himself to march towards Mewar with his strong army. In the ensuing battle, the Tughlaq army was defeated and Muhammad bin Tughlaq was taken prisoner. He was kept prisoner in Chittorgarh for three months and released after the Sultanate ceded Ajmer, Ranthambor, Nagaur and Sopor; and paid 50 lakhs rupees and 100 elephants as ransom to Hammir Singh. Hammir Singh
Maharana Hammir Singh (1314–1364), or Hammir (not to be confused with Hammir Singh of Ranthambore), was a 14th-century Hindu Rajput ruler of Mewar in present-day Rajasthan, India. Hammir Singh, was a scion of the cadet branch Rana of the Guhila dynasty, who regained control of the region, re-established the dynasty after defeating the Tughlaq dynasty, and captured present-day Rajasthan from Muslim forces of Delhi and became the first of the 'Rana' branch to become the King of Mewar with title of Maharana. Hammir also became the progenitor of the Sisodia clan, a branch of the Guhila dynasty, to which every succeeding Maharana of Mewar has belonged. Muhammad Bin Tughluq
Muhammad bin Tughluq (1290 – 20 March 1351) was the eighteenth Sultan of Delhi. He reigned from February 1325 until his death in 1351. The sultan was the eldest son of Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq, founder of the Tughlaq dynasty. In 1321, the young Muhammad was sent by his father to the Deccan Plateau to fight a military campaign against the Kakatiya dynasty. In 1323, the future sultan successfully laid siege upon the Kakatiya capital in Warangal. This victory over King Prataparudra ended the Kakatiya dynasty. A nagar panchayat (town panchayat; ) or Notified Area Council (NAC) in India is a settlement in transition from rural to urban and therefore a form of an urban political unit comparable to a municipality. An urban centre with more than 12,000 and less than 40,000 inhabitants is classified as a nagar panchayat. Such councils are formed under the panchayati raj administrative system.
