The Singapore Women's Open is a professional golf tournament held in Singapore. It was first played in 1987 as the Singapore Ladies Open, and is from 2022 part of the Ladies Asian Tour and LPGA of Korea Tour. History The Singapore Ladies Open was part of the Ladies Asian Golf Circuit between 1987 and 1996. In 2020, a Singapore Ladies Open sponsored by Hana Financial Group was slated to return but was postponed due to the pandemic, and the inaugural LPGA of Korea Tour co-sanctioned event was held in 2022. With a prize purse of S$1.1 million, it was the second most lucrative women's golf tournament in the country after the S$2.4 million HSBC Women's World Championship. Debbie Dowling
Deborah Ann Dowling (26 July 1962 – 18 January 2019) was an English professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. Career Dowling represented England at the 1979 Girls Home Internationals. She turned professional and joined the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 1981 and won six times, at the 1983 Melcade International Tournament and the Ladies Jersey Open, the 1985 Portuguese Ladies Open, the 1986 Laing Ladies Classic and the 1986 and the 1989 Eastleigh Classic. She also won the 1989 Thailand Open and the 1996 Singapore Open on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour. In 1985 and 1986, she finished fifth on the LET Order of Merit. Singapore Open (golf)
The Singapore Open was a golf tournament in Singapore that was predominantly part of the Asian Tour schedule. The event was held at Sentosa Golf Club since 2005 and since 2017 had been part of the Open Qualifying Series, giving up to four non-exempt players entry into The Open Championship. The Singapore Open was founded in 1961 and was one of the tournaments on the first season of the Far East Circuit (later the Asia Golf Circuit) the following year. It remained part of the Asia circuit until 1993 when it became a fixture on the Australasian Tour. After just 3 seasons, it left the Australasian Tour to join the fledgling Asian Tour for that tour's second season in 1996. The event was also co-sanctioned with the European Tour from 2009 to 2012, and with the Japan Golf Tour since 2016. An open golf tournament usually refers to a golf tournament in which all golfers are eligible to play regardless of their professional or amateur status. Often there will be certain restrictions, commonly based on ability. Some amateur-only tournaments are also described as open, although by definition professional golfers are excluded. Liselotte Maria "Lotta" Neumann (born 20 May 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. When she recorded her first LPGA Tour win, by claiming the 1988 U.S. Women's Open title, Neumann also became the first Swedish golfer, male or female, to win a major championship. Early years Neumann was born and grew up in Finspång, Sweden. Her father Rune was a former football player and coach of a local girls football team. After practicing different sports and supported by her father, her mother Ingegerd and her brother Mats, Neumann began playing golf at the local 9-hole course at Finspång Golf Club. Elizabeth Welter Wilson (April 4, 1921 – May 9, 2015) was an American actress whose career spanned nearly 70 years, including memorable roles in film and television. Evelyn Orley (born 10 July 1966) is a Swiss former professional golfer. Family Orley's grandfather Zoltan Őssy-Őlvy represented Hungary in the 1936 Summer Olympics in shooting, and her father Thomas Orley, born in Budapest, competed in fencing for the U.S. in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Her father later moved to Switzerland, where Evelyn was born.
