Sindh Government Press Football Club serves as the football section of the provincial Government of Sindh. It is based in Karachi, Pakistan. History The team first competed as West Pakistan Government Press, later being renamed as Sindh Government Press around 1962. Sindh Government Press debuted in the 1979 Inter-Departmental Championship (now PFF National Challenge Cup), the first ever edition of the Pakistan National Challenge Cup which they won after defeating Muslim Commercial Bank. In the 1989 National Football Championship, they finished runner-up next to Pakistan Airlines. In the 2004–05 PFF National League in the "Southern" group. They ended up at fourth place out of seven. The Government of Sindh ( sd, حڪومت سنڌ) ( ur, ) is the provincial government of the province of Sindh, Pakistan. National Football Championship (Pakistan)
The National Football Championship was the men's highest level football competition from 1948 to 2003. Founded by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) in 1948, it was mainly held on knock-out basis. It was eventually replaced by the Pakistan Premier League from the 2004–05 season in order to professionalize the sport in Pakistan. Until 1971, it was run in parallel with the Dhaka League in East Pakistan. The National Football League era though saw Karachi based Pakistan Airlines with most championships, winning the competition nine times. National Football Championship featured teams representing cities or provinces, including teams from Dacca Division and Chittagong Division from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). The Pakistan Football Federation League ( ur, پاکستان فٹ بال فیڈریشن لیگ ; abbreviated: PFFL), also known as the 'B' Division League, is a Pakistani semi-professional league for men's association football departments and clubs which are in the Pakistan football league system, and is the country's second-tier semi-professional football competition. Contested by 18 departments and clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the top-tier Pakistan Premier League.
