Sikkim High Court
The Sikkim High Court is the High Court of the Indian state of Sikkim. The history of the court can be traced back to 1955, when the High Court of Judicature (Jurisdiction and Powers) Proclamation, 1955 was issued to establish a High Court in Sikkim. Upon merger, Sikkim became the 22nd State of India. Under Clause ''(i) of Article 371F'', the High Court functioning immediately prior to the date of merger became the High Court for the State of Sikkim under the Constitution like any other High Court in the country. It was established in 1975. The seat of the court is at Gangtok, the administrative capital of the state. With a sanctioned court strength of 3 judges, the Sikkim High Court is the smallest High Court of India. Sikkim
Sikkim (; ) is a state in Northeastern India. It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north and northeast, Bhutan in the east, Province No. 1 of Nepal in the west and West Bengal in the south. Sikkim is also close to the Siliguri Corridor, which borders Bangladesh. Sikkim is the least populous and second smallest among the Indian states. Radha Krishna Patra (24 November 1942—28 January 2015) is an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court. Career Patra was enrolled as an advocate in 1966 and started practice in the Orissa High Court on Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Constitutional and Taxation matters. He served as Standing Counsel in Orissa High Court since 1974. Patra worked there as a Government advocate. On 22 June 1992 he was appointed an Additional Judge of Orissa High Court. He was elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court on 9 July 2003 and retired on 23 November 2004. The Government of Sikkim also known as the State Government of Sikkim is the subnational government of the Indian state of Sikkim and its 6 districts, created by the National Constitution as the legislative, executive and judicial authority to govern the state. The Governor acts as the head of state and is, nominally, the highest figure of executive authority. However it is the Chief Minister who is the ''de facto'' head of government and chief executive. Barin Ghosh (5 June 1952 – 7 October 2015) was an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of three High Courts of India. Career Ghosh was born in 1952. He passed B.Sc. from Cotton University in 1969 and completed LL.B. and LL.M. from Guwahati University.
