Siegfried Salomon
Siegfried Salomon (3 August 1885 – 29 October 1962) was a Danish composer. Salomon was born in Copenhagen. In 1899 he entered the Conservatory in Leipzig and studied there for four years. He also spent some time in Paris studying with Paul Le Flem. From 1903 he worked as an orchestral cellist and violist and appeared as a soloist in Copenhagen, Paris and Stockholm. His greatest success as a composer and conductor was with the opera ''Leonora Christina'' which premiered at Det Kongelige Teater The Royal Danish Theatre (RDT, Danish: ') is both the national Danish performing arts institution and a name used to refer to its old purpose-built venue from 1874 located on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen. Siegfried Saloman
Siegfried Saloman (born 2 October 1816 in Tønder, Denmark – died on 22 July 1899 in Dalarö, Sweden) was a Danish violinist and composer. A contemporary of Franz Liszt, he was a pupil of Johannes Frederik Fröhlich, Holger Simon Paulli, Frederik Thorkildsen Wexschall and Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann, from whom he received violin-playing lessons. He toured extensively throughout Europe with the Swedish opera singer Henriette Nissen, to whom he was married in 1850. In 1842, his nine booklets of romances and songs were published in Hamburg. Life Siegfried Saloman, born Solomon, was the son of the merchant Isaac Solomon (1782-1848) and Veilchen Geskel (1787-1836). He was the brother of the artist and the founder of the Gothenburg Museum of Art, Geskel Saloman (1821-1902), and Nota Saloman (1823–85), who was a chief medical officer for the Danish army. ''The New Grove Dictionary of Opera'' is an encyclopedia of opera, considered to be one of the best general reference sources on the subject. It is the largest work on opera in English, and in its printed form, amounts to 5,448 pages in four volumes. First published in 1992 by Macmillan Reference, London, it was edited by Stanley Sadie with contributions from over 1,300 scholars. There are 11,000 articles in total, covering over 2,900 composers and 1800 operas. Appendices including an index of role names and an index of incipits of arias, ensembles, and opera pieces. Tenna Frederiksen Kraft
Hortensia (Tenna) Kristine Sofie Erogine Kraft née Frederiksen (1885–1954) was a Danish operatic soprano. One of the Royal Danish Theatre's outstanding sopranos in the early 20th century, she sang in operas by Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Richard Strauss. She gained particular success in 1926 with the title role in Siegfried Salomon's Danish opera ''Leonora Christina'' which included the popular ''Der er tre hjørnestene''. Biography Born on 16 May 1885 in Copenhagen, Hortensia Kristine Sofie Erogine Frederiksen was the daughter of the house painter Christian Frederiksen (1859–1911) and Sophie Frederikke née Greisen (1859–1908).
