Sidi Daoud
Sidi Daoud () is a farming town in north-central Algeria, on the west bank of the ''Sebaou River'', a few kilometers downstream from its mouth. It is the capital of a municipality dominated by the mountain of Bouberak, including the coastal village of Sahel Bouberak and the zawiya of Sidi Amar Cherif. This municipality is one of three constituting the Baghlia District in eastern Boumerdès Province. As of 2008, the population of the municipality is 16,900. History During the early colonial period, the area around Sidi Daoud was called Issers-Djedian, after the tribe inhabiting it. After defeating the 1871 Mokrani Revolt against colonial rule, the French government launched an extensive program of land expropriation to punish groups that had fought against them; from the Issers ed Djedian, they expropriated 2486 hectares of land in 1873 to found the new settlement of Bois-Sacré (Sacred Wood), thought to be a corruption of the Arabic place name Bou-Askri (place of the soldi ... Sebaou River
The Sebaou River, or Oued Sebaou (''Asif n Sabaw'' in Kabyle, ''Wād Sībāw'' or ''Wād Nissa'' in Arabic) is the main river of the western Kabylie region of Algeria (roughly corresponding to the present-day Tizi Ouzou Province), which flows into the Mediterranean near the coastal town of Dellys in Boumerdès Province. River Delta
A river delta is a landform shaped like a triangle, created by deposition (geology), deposition of sediment that is carried by a river and enters slower-moving or stagnant water. Mokrani Revolt
The Mokrani Revolt ( ar, مقاومة الشيخ المقراني, lit=Resistance of Cheikh El-Mokrani; ber, Unfaq urrumi, lit=French insurrection) was the most important local uprising against France in Algeria since the French conquest of Algeria, conquest in 1830. Zawiyet Sidi Amar Cherif
Zawiyet Sidi Amar Cherif ( ar, زاوية سيدي أعمر الشريف), or Zawiyet Sidi Daoud, is a zawiya school located in Boumerdès Province in Algeria. Construction The zawiya was built in 1745 in the eastern heights of the current town of Boumerdès in the Kabylia region. It was founded by scholar Sidi Amar Cherif. Missions The zawiya is considered a prominent religious teacher for teaching the Quran and its basic rulings to young people. It also provides the various mosques of Boumerdes Province during the month of Ramadan every year with a preservation that leads to Tarawih prayers by reciting the Quran with the Warsh recitation. This zawiya has had dozens of male and female Hafiz graduates. It is a place to study and teach the Quran, as well as providing aid to the needy and those about to get married and organizing circumcision ceremonies. Hocine Ziani
Hocine Ziani (born in Sidi Daoud on 3 May 1953) is an Algerian painter and artist in plastic arts. Early years Ziani was born in 1953 in a Kabyle people, Kabyle family living in the countryside of lower Kabylia near Zawiyet Sidi Amar Cherif and not far from the course of Oued Sebaou in the current Boumerdès Province. He then spent his childhood in cultural isolation in the first years which coincided with the start of the Algerian revolution. In 1964, two years after the independence of his country, he enrolled in the primary school of Sidi Daoud at the age of 11 and devoted himself to drawing and art as a self-taught. He joined his internship studies in an accounting college in the nearby town of Bordj Menaïel in 1969, then moved to Algiers in 1973 to continue his studies and obtain an accountant position in a national company.
