Districts Of Algeria
{{Politics of Algeria The provinces of Algeria are divided into 547 districts (''daïras'' / " دائرة "). The capital of a district is called a ''district seat'' (''chef-lieu de daïra''). Each District is further divided into one or more municipalities (''baladiyahs''). Algiers, the national capital, is the only city in the country which is divided into districts (and municipalities), and the only one which is a province itself. This means that its neighborhoods and suburbs have the same status as those of smaller cities or villages elsewhere in the country. Félix-Ariel D'Assigny
Félix-Ariel Flamen d'Assigny (born in Paris on 21 June 1794 and died in Toulon on 11 August 1846) was a French officer who participated to the French conquest of Algeria. Family Félix-Ariel Flamen d'Assigny was born in the city of Nevers, and his father is Gilbert Flamen d'Assigny (1743-1819) who was Minister Plenipotentiary of Louis XVI at the Court of Bavaria. His father married Reine-Henriette Bourgeois de Moléron on 1796 who bore him three children, dnd Felix Ariel had thus for siblings only one brother named Benjamin Flamen d'Assigny and only one other sister. Rezki Zerarti (born 24 July 1938) is an Algerian painter. Biography Rezki Zerarti was born in 1938 in Taourga within lower Kabylia during the period of French Algeria, and he left during the Algerian War in 1959 to the town of Aix-en-Provence in France where he worked as a mason, before starting to follow a few drawing lessons, and the same year he began to paint. He returned to Algeria after Independence in August 1962, and settled in the district of Pointe-Pescade (Raïs Hamidou) in Algiers, and opened his painting studio in the vicinity of the accommodation of the poet Jean Sénac who met him in 1963. Exhibitions Reski Zérarti takes part in the two “Algerian Painters” exhibitions organized in Algiers for the “Fêtes du 1er novembre 1963” then in Paris in 1964. Zawiyet Sidi Amar Cherif
Zawiyet Sidi Amar Cherif ( ar, زاوية سيدي أعمر الشريف), or Zawiyet Sidi Daoud, is a zawiya school located in Boumerdès Province in Algeria. Construction The zawiya was built in 1745 in the eastern heights of the current town of Boumerdès in the Kabylia region. It was founded by scholar Sidi Amar Cherif. Missions The zawiya is considered a prominent religious teacher for teaching the Quran and its basic rulings to young people. It also provides the various mosques of Boumerdes Province during the month of Ramadan every year with a preservation that leads to Tarawih prayers by reciting the Quran with the Warsh recitation. This zawiya has had dozens of male and female Hafiz graduates. It is a place to study and teach the Quran, as well as providing aid to the needy and those about to get married and organizing circumcision ceremonies. The Battle of the Col des Beni Aïcha or Battle of Thenia, which broke out on 19 April 1871, was a battle of the Mokrani Revolt between the Algerian rebels, and the France, which was the colonial power in the region since 1830. Presentation After the Algerian rebels took control of Palestro on 14 April 1871 after the Battle of Palestro, they wanted to conquer Mitidja and the city of Algiers. In order to achieve this, Cheikh Mokrani's troops had to bypass the region of Réghaïa via Lower Kabylia, while the spring of 1871 had begun and the Oued Isser was in flood. The Algerian soldiers went up from Palestro towards the northeast, far from the French garrisons and bivouacs from April 14, 1871, to reach after three days the French colony of Laazib Zamoum on April 17 where they lit wood fires all around this bud of French town. Thomas Robert Bugeaud, marquis de la Piconnerie, duc d'Isly (15 October 178410 June 1849) was a Marshal of France and Governor-General of Algeria. Early life He was born at Limoges, a member of a noble family of Périgord (Occitania), the youngest of thirteen children. He ran away from home, and for some years lived in the country as an agricultural worker. At the age of twenty he became a private soldier in the ''Vélites'' of the Imperial Guard, with which he took part in the Austerlitz campaign of the following year. The Second Assault of Dellys was an assault by troupes coloniales under General Thomas Robert Bugeaud (1784–1849) against the Algerian resistance fighters in the town of Dellys, Kabylia of the ''Igawawen''. It was part of the French conquest of Algeria and took place in April–May 1844. The ''First Assault of Dellys'' in May 1837, during the French conquest of Algeria, opposed the troupes coloniales under Corvette captain Félix-Ariel d'Assigny (1794-1846) to the resistance fighters of the town of Dellys in Kabylia of the ''Igawawen''. Historical Context When the Emir Mustapha organized on 8 May 1837 the first attack of his Kabylian allies against a colonial agricultural farm in Reghaïa within Mitidja plain, the French response was not long in coming against the attackers. The then French governor of Algiers, General Damrémont, then ordered the Kabyles to be punished by a military expedition on 17 May 1837 commanded by Colonel Schauenburg by land, and General Perregaux by sea against the tribes of Beni Aïcha, Issers and Amraoua. Maximilien Joseph Schauenburg (born in Saint Stephen's Church on 30 April 1784 and died in Paris on 19 September 1838) was a French officer who participated to the French conquest of Algeria. Family Born on 30 April 1784 in Saint Stephen's Church near Strasbourg, he is the son of Alexis Balthazar Henri Schauenburg (1748-1831) and Sophie Louise Albertini d'Ichtersheim.
