Shoot! (manga)
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsukasa Ōshima. It was published in Kodansha's ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' between 1990 and 2003. The story revolves around a boy named Toshihiko Tanaka, who has just started at Kakegawa High School in order to play association football with his idol, Yoshiharu Kubo. Toshi's friends are not interested in playing football again this year until he convinces them to join the team. Soon, the team enters into the All-Japan High School Championship. A 58-episode anime television series adaptation titled was produced by Toei Animation and broadcast between November 7, 1993 and December 25, 1994 on Fuji Television. is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: '' shōnen'', '' shōjo'', and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo''. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the ''shōnen'' and ''shōjo'' categories starting in 2015.
