Shimokawa, Hokkaido
is a town located in Kamikawa Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. , the town has an estimated population of 3,202 and a density of five persons per km². The total area is 644.20 km². Geography Shimokawa is 90% forest: primarily oak, white birch, larch, and pine trees. The main river in Shimokawa is the Nayoro River which is a tributary of the Teshio River (the second longest river in Hokkaido). The Nayoro River has two branches: the Sanru River (smaller) and the Panke River (larger). The Sanru River is very clear and is a spawning area for Cherry Trout. Fly fishing is very popular in Shimokawa. Climate Shimokawa's seasonal snowfall can begin as early as November and continue through to April. Teshio River
The is a river in Hokkaidō, Japan. At , it is the second-longest river on the island (after the Ishikari) and the fourth-longest in the country (after the Shinano, Tone, and Ishikari). Yuki Ito (ski Jumper)
is a Japanese ski jumper. Ito has won five individual World Cup events, three team events, and finished as the overall runner-up in the 2016–17 season. At the World Championships she has won five medals, including a mixed team gold. Career Ito's debut in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup took place in February 2012 in Hinzenbach. At the 2013 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme, Ito won the gold medal with the Japanese team in the mixed event at normal hill. The 1998 Winter Olympics, officially known as the and commonly known as Nagano 1998 ( ja, 長野1998), was a winter multi-sport event held from 7 to 22 February 1998, mainly in Nagano, Japan, with some events taking place in the nearby mountain communities of Hakuba, Karuizawa, Nozawa Onsen, and Yamanouchi. Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp. Along with jump length, competitor's aerial style and other factors also affect the final score. Ski jumping was first contested in Norway in the late 19th century, and later spread through Europe and North America in the early 20th century. Along with cross-country skiing, it constitutes the traditional group of Nordic skiing disciplines.
