Shantinath Jain Teerth
The Shantinath Jain Teerth, also known as Shri 1008 Shantinath Digambar Jain Mandir, is a Jain temple located in Indapur, Pune, Maharashtra. The design and architecture of the temple is patterned after that of South Indian temples. The temple is known for its 27-foot tall granite idol of Shri 1008 Munisuvrata, the twentieth Tirthankara. The number 1008 is significant in Jainism and is associated with the Tirthankaras. The temple is sometimes called the Golden Temple because of its golden facade. The Temple Architecture The architecture draws inspiration from South Indian temples, and the temple has a 31 foot high tower, known as the ''Shikhar'', modeled after the ''Shikhar'' of Mel Sithamur Jain Math. It is quadrangular in shape, constructed using reinforced concrete and the facade is painted golden by artists from Mamallapuram. The tower houses an idol of Mahavira made of brass. Vasupujya
Vasupujya was the twelfth tirthankara in Jainism of the '' avasarpini'' (present age). According to Jain beliefs, he became a siddha, a liberated soul which has destroyed all of its karma. Vasupujya was born to King Vasupujya and Queen Jaya Devi at Champapuri in the Ikshvaku dynasty. His birth date was the fourteenth day of the Falgun Krishna month of the Indian calendar. He never married and remained a celibate. He attained Kevala Jnana within one month of Tapsya and Moksha at Champapuri, of Bihar in India on the fourteenth day of the bright half of the month of Ashadh. Jinvani
In Jainism, Jinvani means the message or the teachings of the Jina (''arihant''). It is made up of two words ''Jina'' ( arihant) and ''Vani'' (voice). Often the words are spelled out separately or put together as "Jinavani" in publications. It is depicted in various forms, such as "Jinwani" which may be a hymn (or a village in India, by coincidence), and is also personified as ''Jinvani Maa'' (Mother Jinvani). Saraswati
Saraswati ( sa, सरस्वती, ) is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is one of the Tridevi, along with the goddesses Lakshmi and Parvati. Padmavati (Jainism)
Padmāvatī is the protective goddess or śāsana devī (शासनदेवी) of Parshvanatha, Pārśvanātha, the twenty-third Jain tirthankara, tīrthāṅkara, complimenting Parshwa yaksha in Swetambara and Dharanendra in digambar the shasan deva. She is a yakshi (attendant goddess) of Parshwanatha. Manibhadra
Manibhadra is one of the major yakshas. He was a popular deity in ancient India. Iconography Several well known images of yaksha Manibhadra have been found. The two oldest known image are: Yaksha Manibhadra from Parkham Yaksha Manibhadra coming from Parkham near Mathura, datable to period 200 BCE – 50 BC The statue is 2.59 meters high. On stylistic grounds and paleographical analysis of the inscription, the statue is datable to the middle of the 2nd century BCE. The inscription says "Made by Gomitaka, a pupil of Kunika. Set up by eight brothers, members of the Manibhadra congregation ("puga")." This inscription thus indicates that the statue represents the Yaksa Manibhadra. According to John Boardman, the hem of the dress is derived from Greek art.
