Shahr-e Naw Park
Shahr-e Naw Park ( prs, پارک شهرنو), also known as Pārk-e Shahr-e Now, is a general public park in the Shahr-e Naw district of Kabul, Afghanistan. It is one of several original open-space parks planned by Afghan kings during the 19th century. It was recently rehabilitated and renovated by the Kabul municipality. Shahr-e Naw
Shahr-e Naw ( ps, شهر نو; prs, شهرنو), also spelled Share Naw, Shahre Naow or Shari Naw, is an affluent neighborhood in the northwestern section of Kabul, Afghanistan. It is a downtown commercial area housing most of the bigger buildings such as office centers, shopping centers, education centers, embassies, supermarkets, hotels, banks, hospitals, mosques, and apartments. To its west lies Karte Sakhi, and to its east is the affluent Wazir Akbar Khan neighborhood. Its name in a general sense means '' New Town'', which is taken as it was first built in the early 20th century as a 'new' urban extension north of the historic city of Kabul. History The Hotak Empire was formed after a successful uprising led by Mirwais Hotak and other Afghan tribal chiefs from the Kandahar region against Mughal and Safavid Persian rule. Zarnegar Park
Zarnegar Park ( prs, پارک زرنگار, ''Park-e Zarnegar'') is an urban park in the center of Kabul, Afghanistan, north of the river. The park, a popular landmark, has a green hill in its center with trees and decorated with flowers. A large pavilion is located in the park which serves as Abdur Rahman Khan's resting place. History The park itself was developed in the late 1950s after the government's demolishing of several state owned buildings at the site. About 50 million afghanis were spent on developing the park, in a very central location of the city. The name "Zarnegar" ( prs, زرنگار, meaning ''adorned with gold'') is taken from the pavilion that existed here since the 19th century.
