Sayyed (the word Sayyed also spelt Sayed, Sayyid, Seyyed, Syed, Dari language, Dari: ) is one of the clerical and religious in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is believed that Sayeds are the descendants of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, who had traveled from Arab countries to other countries during the time of Muhammad to spread Islam. The most famous Sayed in the modern history is Sayed Ismael Balkhi, who was one of the leaders of the Hazaras in Afghanistan in the 20th Century. Dari (, , ), also known as Dari Persian (, ), is the Variety (linguistics), variety of the Persian language spoken in Afghanistan. Dari is the term officially recognised and promoted since 1964 by the Politics of Afghanistan, Afghan government for the Persian language,Lazard, G.Darī – The New Persian Literary Language", in ''Encyclopædia Iranica'', Online Edition 2006. hence it is known as Afghan Persian or Eastern Persian in many Western sources. Apart from a few basics of vocabulary, there is little difference between formal written Persian of Afghanistan and Iran. Sayed Askar Mousavi ( prs, سید عسکر موسوی) is a writer and novelist from Afghanistan. He is the author of '' The Hazaras of Afghanistan'' published on January 29, 2009 by Cambridge University. Sayed Askar Mousavi was born in 1956 in a family belonging to the Hazara ethnic group in Karte Sakhi area of Kabul, Afghanistan He was educated at the University of East Anglia (BA Development Studies, 1987) and St Antony's College, Oxford (MLitt; Ph.D.). Sayed Askar Mousavi was a prominent figure in the "cultural struggle" of the Afghan Mujahideen in Iran during the Russian occupation. He was the main writer and editor of a few publications, including ''Saaf'', and ''Jawali''. Hazara Tribes
The Hazara people are an ethnic group who inhabit and originate from Hazarajat (Hazaristan) region, located in central parts of Afghanistan and generally scattered throughout Afghanistan. However, there are significant populations of Hazaras in Pakistan and Iran, notably in Quetta, Pakistan and in Mashhad, Iran. Furthermore, many Afghan refugees are fleeing the conflict in Afghanistan who have in recent years settled in Iran and further bolstered the Hazara community in Pakistan. Sayed Mustafa Kazemi
Sayed Mustafa Kazemi ( prs, سید مصطفی کاظمی, 1959 – November 6, 2007) from Parwan was a prominent Afghan politician. He was one of the leaders and the spokesman for the opposition movement known as the United National Front. He was a former minister of commerce in the Afghan Transitional Government. Sayyed Mohammad Eqbal Munib
Mohammad Eqbal Munib ( prs, محمد اقبال منیب) was a Hazara politician and the former governor of Ghor. Before that he had been governor of Sar-e Pol. As governor of Sar-e Pol Mohammad Eqbal Munib survived two attempts on his life. One was on 24 April 2007, a "mine planted near a brook" which was remotely detonated by unidentified people as Munib's car was passing by. The blast damaged the vehicle but did not cause any casualties. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. In May 2010 the provincial council of Ghor Province and some civil society organizations wrote a letter to President Hamid Karzai wherein they criticized the performance of Mohammad Eqbal Munib and asked for the dismissal of the governor. Following this, Governor Munib was dismissed by the president due to lack of professionalism. Sayyid Ali Beheshti
Sayyid Ali Beheshti ( fa, سید علی بهشتی) was a leader of the Shia Hazara ethnic group of Afghanistan, who became president of the '' Shura-yi Enqelabi-yi Ettefaq-i Islami-yi Afghanistan'' (Revolutionary Council of the Islamic Union of Afghanistan). Born in Bamyan province, Beheshti was educated in Iraq where he became a ''modarres'' (religious teacher). In the 1960s he returned to Afghanistan and founded a madrasah in Waras, which became his stronghold. He also was a speaker at the Afghan parliament, until the communists took power in 1978. In April 1979, uprisings against the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan swept through Hazarajat, and by autumn much of the region was free from government presence. Sayed Hassan Hussaini (known as Sayed Hassan Akhlaq, fa, سید حسن اخلاق) is an Afghan-American philosopher. Life Akhlaq was born in 1976, in Sayghan City, in the province of Bamyan, Afghanistan. He immigrated to Iran when he was four years old. Finishing primary and secondary schools in Mashhad, he started to study classical religious seminaries (in Qum and Mashhad). Afterward he studied Islamic traditional courses and was educated in the field of Islamic Theology and Philosophy in Razavi University of Islamic Sciences. He obtained his Master of Art degree in the field of Western philosophy from the Imam Khomeini International University and a doctorate (PhD) in Western philosophy from Allameh Tabatabai University. Aryana Sayeed (Dari/Pashto: ) is an Afghan singer, songwriter and TV personality. She sings mostly in Dari but also has many songs in Pashto and some in Uzbek. She is one of Afghanistan's most famous musical artist, performing regularly in concerts and philanthropic festivals within and outside Afghanistan.
