Senegal At The 2004 Summer Olympics
Senegal competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from 13 to 29 August 2004. This was the nation's eleventh appearance at the Olympics. The Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee (french: Comité National Olympique et Sportif Sénégalais) sent a total of sixteen athletes to the Games, six men and ten women, to take part in six different sports. For the second consecutive time in the nation's Olympic history, Senegal was represented by more female than male athletes. Five Senegalese athletes had previously competed in Sydney, including hurdler Mame Tacko Diouf and breaststroke swimmer Malick Fall, who carried the nation's flag in the opening ceremony. There was only a single competitor in judo, table tennis, and wrestling. These are the results of the women's sabre (fencing), sabre competition in fencing at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. A total of 24 women competed in this event. Competition took place in the Fencing Hall at the Helliniko Olympic Complex on August 17. Tournament results The field of 24 fencers competed in a single-elimination tournament to determine the medal winners. Semifinal losers proceeded to a Third place playoff, bronze medal match. Kéné Ndoye (20 November 1978 – 13 February 2023) was a Senegalese track and field athlete, competing internationally for Senegal. She was 14th in the triple jump at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. She won Senegal's first world indoor medal when she took bronze in the triple jump at the 2003 World Indoor Championships.
