Sellerio Editore is an Italian publisher founded in 1969 in Palermo, by Elvira Giorgianni and her husband Enzo Sellerio, encouraged by the writer Leonardo Sciascia and the anthropologist Antonino Buttitta. History After some titles published in the first collection, of suggestive name '' La civiltà perfezionata '' (The improved civilization), the publisher gained visibility with the publication in 1978 of Leonardo Sciascia’s '' L'affaire Moro '' (The case Aldo Moro). From then on the number of collections grows, starting with ''La memoria'' (The memory), today practically a symbol of the italian publisher. Andrea Camilleri
Andrea Calogero Camilleri (; 6 September 1925 – 17 July 2019) was an Italian writer. Biography Originally from Porto Empedocle, Girgenti, Sicily, Camilleri began university studies in the Faculty of Literature at the University of Palermo, but did not complete his degree; during that time he published poems and short stories. From 1948 to 1950 he studied stage and film direction at the Silvio D'Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts (Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica) and began to take on work as a director and screenwriter, directing especially plays by Pirandello and Beckett. His parents knew and reportedly were "distant friends" of Pirandello, as he relates in his essay on Pirandello, ''Biography of the Changed Son.'' Enzo Sellerio
Enzo Sellerio (1924 – February 22, 2012) was an Italian photographer, publisher, and collector. Born in 1924 in Palermo to an Italian father and a Russian mother, Sellerio studied law and was for some time a lecturer in law at the University of Palermo. He became a full-time photographer in the early 1950s. In 1962 ZDF invited Sellerio, Hiroshi Hamaya and Will McBride to make a film on the German people; ''Mit offenen Augen'' was the result. After a short period in the mid-1960s freelancing in the United States for ''Vogue'' and ''Fortune'' magazines, Sellerio moved toward publishing, and in 1969 started Sellerio editore with his wife. Sellerio would take direct charge of the art division of the company, which, as Enzo Sellerio editore, became independent in 1983. Giulio Angioni
Giulio Angioni (28 October 1939 – 12 January 2017) was an Italian writer and anthropologist. Biography Angioni was a leading Italian anthropologist, professor at the University of Cagliari and fellow of St Antony's College of the University of Oxford. He is the author of about twenty books of fiction and a dozen volumes of essays in anthropology. The ''Premio Campiello'' is an annual Italian literary prize. A Jury of Literary Experts (''Giuria di letterati'' in Italian) identifies books published during the year and, in a public hearing, selects five of those as finalists. These books are called ''Premio Selezione Campiello''. Sergio Atzeni
Sergio Atzeni (14 October 1952 in Capoterra – 6 September 1995 in Carloforte) was an Italian writer. Life and career Born in Capoterra, southern Sardinia, Atzeni lived in Orgosolo during his childhood until he moved to Cagliari where, as a journalist, he worked for some of the most important Sardinian newspapers. He also became a member of the Italian Communist Party, but later left the party, being disillusioned with politics. In 1986, he left Sardinia and travelled across Europe, but in the last part of his life he settled in Turin where he wrote his most important novels, including ''Il figlio di Bakunìn'' (''Bakunin's Son''), ''Passavamo sulla terra leggeri'' and ''Il quinto passo è l'addio''.
