Seija Simola
Seija Saara Maria Simola (25 September 1944 Helsinki – 21 August 2017 Vantaa), married Franzén, was a Finnish singer. She began her career musical in the mid-1960s in the band Eero Seija & Kristian Trio, and her debut solo album was released in 1970: ''Seija Simola 1''. The 1970s would be her most successful decade. In 1978, she represented Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle) at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978. There she performed the entry '' Anna rakkaudelle tilaisuus (Give love a chance)'', on 22 April 1978. The song finished in the 18th position with a total of two points. Finland was represented by Katri Helena, with the song "Katson sineen taivaan", at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 31 March in Jerusalem. "Katson sineen taivaan" was chosen as the Finnish entry at the national final organised by broadcaster Yle and held on 10 February. This was the first of Katri Helena's two Eurovision appearances for Finland, after she had finished runner-up in three previous national finals (1969, 1972 and 1978). Katri Helena
Katri Helena Kalaoja (née Koistinen, born 17 August 1945) is a Finnish singer. Career Katri Helena released her first songs in 1963 and has since sold over 630,000 certified records, which makes her the second-best-selling female soloist in Finland behind Madonna and places her also among the top 20 best-selling music artists in the Finnish market. She has represented Finland twice in the Eurovision Song Contest: in 1979 with her song " Katson sineen taivaan" and in 1993 with " Tule luo". She also took part in the International Sopot Festival in 1969, singing "Valssi" during the Polish day. Personal life Katri Helena has been married three times. She had two daughters and a son with her husband Timo Kalaoja, who died of a heart attack in 1988. His death affected her so much that she withdrew from public view and stopped performing and recording for four years. Her only son, Juha Kalaoja, died at age 33 on 29 April 2009. Monica Aspelund (born 16 July 1946 in Vaasa) is a Finnish singer. She is the older sister of Ami Aspelund. Life and career Born into a family of Swedish speaking Finns, Aspelund danced and sang in talent shows from an early age, making her recording debut at age fourteen with "Katso, kenguru loikkaa" a children's song recorded in the autumn of 1960.
