Berthold Carl Seemann
Berthold Carl Seemann (25 February 1825, in Hanover, Germany – 10 October 1871, in Nicaragua, Central America), was a German botanist. He travelled widely and collected and described plants from the Pacific and South America. In 1844 he travelled to the United Kingdom to study botany at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. On the recommendation of Sir WJ Hooker, he was appointed naturalist on the voyage of exploration of the American west coast and Pacific by Henry Kellett on HMS ''Herald'', 1847–1851, along with the naturalists Thomas Edmondston, and John Goodridge. The expedition returned via Hawaii, Hong Kong and the East Indies, calling at the Cape in March 1851. Here he met up with his old acquaintance Zeyher, and with Baur and Juritz they climbed Table Mountain on 13 March 1851, Ecklon being unwell and unable to accompany them. Carl Seemann
Carl Seemann (8 May 1910 − 26 November 1983) was a German church musician, pianist, piano teacher and director of the Musikhochschule Freiburg. Life Born in Bremen, after the Abitur Seemann initially vacillated between studying theology and music. He decided to study church music in Leipzig. His teachers were Karl Straube, Günther Ramin, Kurt Thomas and Carl Adolf Martienssen. After his exams, Seemann worked as organist in Flensburg and Verden. From 1935 he devoted himself mainly to his career as a pianist and to teaching - Seemann subsequently held professorships and master classes in Kiel, Strasbourg and Freiburg im Breisgau. From 1964 to 1974 he was head of the local state music academy. Many recordings, but especially the duo performances with the violinist Wolfgang Schneiderhan, made Seemann one of the greats of post-war German musical life. Reinhold-Schneider-Preis
The Reinhold-Schneider-Preis (Reinhold Schneider Prize) is the cultural prize awarded by the German town of Freiburg im Breisgau. It has been awarded biennially since 1960, alternating between literature, music and art. In addition to the main prize of €15,000, a ''Förderpreis'' (scholarship) of €6,000 is awarded. A connection of the recipient to Freiburg is essential, since that was the case for the writer Reinhold Schneider for whom the prize is named. Finn Seemann
Finn Ludvig Seemann (18 October 1944 – 7 September 1985) was a Norwegian footballer who played as a striker. Seemann was born in Oslo. He started his football career in Lyn, where he became league champion in 1964. In 1965, he became professional in the Scottish club Dundee United. After two seasons in Scotland he went to the Netherlands, where he played for DWS and FC Utrecht, and also lived in the United States in a period before he returned to Lyn in 1975. He has also played in Vålerenga, Sarpsborg and Bækkelaget. He was capped 15 times and scored four goals for Norway. Seemann was also capped three times for Norway in bandy. Lindsay Seemann (born September 22, 1992) is a Canadian swimmer who participated in the 200-metre backstroke at the 2008 Summer Olympics. At 15, she was the youngest athlete on the Canadian Olympic team. She was born and raised in Newmarket, Ontario and started her swimming career for the Newmarket Stingrays. Seemann swam for the University of Arizona Wildcats from 2010 to 2012, before transferring to the University of Iowa, where she swam for the Iowa Hawkeyes The Iowa Hawkeyes are the athletic teams that represent the University of Iowa, located in Iowa City, Iowa.
