Seafield, Edinburgh
Seafield is a coastal strip situated on the Firth of Forth between Leith and Portobello in north-east Edinburgh, Scotland. The area is mainly commercial, and has little housing. The area is home to Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, which cares for around 150 of Edinburgh and the Lothians' lost and abandoned cats and dogs. The Eastern General Hospital was based here until being demolished in 2008. Its maternity unit served North East Edinburgh and the Borders until 1997. Seafield Cemetery and Crematorium Dating from 1889 the cemetery has an impressive entrance lodge and gates in the style of Kinross House. The crematorium dates from 1938 and was designed by the Leith architect W. N. Thomson. The cemetery has a columbarium and Italian style section to the south. Seafield, West Lothian
Seafield is a small village in West Lothian, Scotland. Seafield lies east of Blackburn, southeast of Bathgate Bathgate ( sco, Bathket or , gd, Both Chèit) is a town in West Lothian, Scotland, west of Livingston, Scotland, Livingston and adjacent to the M8 motorway (Scotland), M8 motorway. Nearby towns are Armadale, West Lothian, Armadale, Blackburn, ... () and 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Livingston. The village lies between the River Almond to the south and the M8 motorway to the north. Seafield Colliery
Seafield Colliery was in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. Work on the colliery was started on 12 May 1954 and production began in 1966. On 10 May 1973, five men were killed when a roof collapsed. Despite it being said that it had a life of 150 years, with millions of tons, much of the coal being deep under the bed of the Firth of Forth, Seafield Colliery was closed in 1988. In September 1989, the Seafield Colliery twin towers were demolished. Darts player Jocky Wilson John Thomas "Jocky" Wilson (22 March 1950 – 24 March 2012) was a Scottish professional darts player. After turning pro in 1979, he quickly rose to the top of the game, winning the World Professional Darts Championship in 1982, then again ..., was once a miner at the colliery.
