Scioto Township is one of the fifteen townships of Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 United States Census found 11,712 people in the township. Geography Located in the northern part of the county, it borders the following townships: * Jackson Township, Franklin County - north * Hamilton Township, Franklin County - northeast * Harrison Township - east * Jackson Township - south * Muhlenberg Township - southwest * Darby Township - west * Pleasant Township, Franklin County - northwest There is only one village located in Scioto Township, which is Commercial Point in the center of the township. Scioto River
The Scioto River ( ) is a river in central and southern Ohio more than in length. It rises in Hardin County just north of Roundhead, Ohio, flows through Columbus, Ohio, where it collects its largest tributary, the Olentangy River, and meets the Ohio River at Portsmouth. Robtown, Ohio
Robtown is an unincorporated community in Pickaway County, Ohio, Pickaway County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. The area is located approximately five miles west of South Bloomfield, Ohio and three miles northeast of Darbyville, Ohio, on the banks of Grave Run, a tributary of the Scioto River, and at the crossroads of Ohio State Route 316 and Turney Caldwell Road. History In 1822, Michael Robison moved his family from Pike County, Ohio, to southern Scioto Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, Scioto Township where he bought 250 acres and raised 15 children. Orient is a former village (United States)#Ohio, village in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The population was 270 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. Orient is home to the Pickaway Correctional Institution and the Correctional Reception Center. History Orient was established as a station on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in the northwest corner of Scioto township. Local residents began seeking dissolution in January 2012. Thirty-three signatures were collected, one more than required by Ohio law to gain ballot access, but the county board of elections rejected the petition when it was found to have more signatures than those certified by the petition circulator. Commercial Point, Ohio
Commercial Point is a village in Pickaway County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,078 at the 2020 census. It is the fastest-growing community in Pickaway County and one of the fastest-growing villages in central Ohio. It is a suburb of Columbus, OH History Wiley H. Beckett came from eastern Virginia in 1829 and settled on a 238-acre tract west of the present Commercial Point. In 1841 he laid out a community called Genoa. James H. Burnley, also from Virginia, arrived in the area in 1832 and laid out a similar community east of Genoa called Rome. As the two towns grew larger, Rome became the western half, and Genoa the eastern half, of a new single town. When Genoa was incorporated in 1851, Rome was merged into the new village. The first store was established in 1844 by Wiley H. Beckett, and the post office was originally named Beckett's Store.
