The Schottmann House Danish: (I. B. Schottmannns Gård) is a historic property located at Strandgade 10 in the Christianshavn neighbourhood of Copenhagen, Denmark. History 17th and 18th century The site was part of a large property at present-day No. 8–14. Jacob Madsen, Christianshavn's mayor from 1641 to 1653, lived at No. 10. The property was listed as No. 13 in Copenhagen's first cadastre of 1689 and was at that time owned by Frederik Møller. It was later divided into a number of smaller properties. The property now known as Strandgade 10 was listed as No. 29 in the new cadastre of 1756. It was at that time owned by blacksmith Christen Rasmussen, Schottmann family The property was later adapted by master builder Johan Bernhardt Schottmann. Originally from Saxony, he had settled as a mason in Copenhagen in 1763. Søkvæsthuset
Søkvæsthuset is a former Naval hospice located on Christianshavn Canal in the Christianshavn district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The listed building housed the Royal Danish Naval Museum indtil 2016. The collection has been moved to and is exhibited at the Arsenal Museum (Tøjhusmuseet) at Christiansborg. History Earlier locations It is known that a hospital for boatsmen was founded in 1618, most likely at Church of Holmen. It was moved to Gothersgade in 1628 and again in 1658 to ''Sejlhuset'' at Bremerholm. In 1668, the hospital moved to '' Børnehuset'' in Christianshavn and in 1675 to ''Guldhuset'' in Rigensgade. Jennow House
The Jennow House is a historic property located at Strandgade 12 in the Christianshavn neighbourhood of Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes its current name after Andreas Jennow, a businessman who owned it from 1949 to 1978. His company Andreas Jennow A/S was based in the building until 1988. History 17th century The property was part of a large lot at present-day No. 8–14, which had still not been developed in 1635. It is believed that brewer Jacob Byssing constructed a building at the site prior to his acquisition of the entire corner lot at No. 12–14 between 1689 and 1692. The property was listed as No. 15 in Copenhagen's first cadastre of 1689. It was at that time owned by brewer Anders Svendsen. The original intention was only to build along the south-east side of the street, away from the water, while the beach provided private harbour facilities for the lot owners, who could easily transfer goods from ships to their warehouses and storage cellars. Asiatisk Plads
Asiatisk Plads is a waterfront area in the Christianshavn neighbourhood of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is bounded by Torvegade to the south, next to Knippel Bridge, Strandgade to the east and the Old Dock area to the north. It takes its name from Danish Asia Company which was based at the site from its foundation in 1732 until 1843 when it was dissolved. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is now based in the area, in a purpose-built office complex from 1980 as well as in the surviving buildings of the Danish Asia Company, its former head office and two converted warehouses, all of which are listed. Asiatisk Plads is frequently used as a metonym for the Ministry. History Danish Asia Company was founded in 1732 as a replacement for the Danish East India Company which had been dissolved in 1729.
