Scheringa Museum Of Realist Art
Scheringa Museum of Realist Art (until 2005, Frisia Museum) was a museum in Spanbroek, North Holland, the Netherlands that housed around five hundred works of the 20th-century art mainly realist art and contemporary. It opened in February 1997 and closed in 2009. After the DSB Bank went bankrupt, the collection was retained by ABN AMRO as a guarantee, and this forced the closure of the museum. Later, the collection passed to the Deutsche Bank, which decided to sell it to an undisclosed individual for 14 million Euro. The plans were stopped in 2011 by a court in Amsterdam, which decided that the price was too low. In March 2012, the Dutch part of the collection was bought by Hans Melchers. Spanbroek
Spanbroek is a small city in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Opmeer, and lies about northwest of Hoorn.''ANWB Topografische Atlas Nederland'', Topografische Dienst and ANWB, 2005. History Spanbroek was first mentioned in 1290 as Spanbroech, and is a combination of "swampy land" and "footbridge". Spanbroek developed in the Middle Ages as a peat excavation settlement. It received city rights in 1414. The Dutch Reformed church is a single aisled church. The bottom part of the tower was built in the early 15th century and it received its current height in the late 15th century. The former town hall was built in 1598 and was used until 1881. Spanbroek was home to 248 people in 1840. During 19th century, Opmeer merged with Spanbroek in a single urban area. Spanbroek was a separate municipality until 1959, when it was merged with Opmeer. Marlene Dumas (born 3 August 1953) is a South African artist and painter currently based in the Netherlands. Life and work Dumas was born in 1953 in Cape Town, South Africa and grew up in Kuils River in the Western Cape, where her father had a vineyard. Dumas witnessed the system of Apartheid during her childhood. Dumas began painting in 1973 and showed her political concerns and reflections on her identity as a white woman of Afrikaans descent in South Africa. Lucian Michael Freud (; 8 December 1922 – 20 July 2011) was a British painter and draughtsman, specialising in figurative art, and is known as one of the foremost 20th-century English portraitists. He was born in Berlin, the son of Jewish architect Ernst L. Freud and the grandson of Sigmund Freud. Freud got his first name "Lucian" from his mother in memory of the ancient writer Lucian of Samosata. His family moved to England in 1933, when he was 10 years old, to escape the rise of Nazism. Tobeen
Tobeen (Bordeaux, July 20, 1880 - Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, March 1938) is the pseudonym of the French artist Félix Bonnet. Life Tobeen stayed frequently in the western part of thé Pyrenees, Basque Country, but was born and bred in Bordeaux. Because of his frequent reference to Basque subjects within his paintings he became known as a Basque artist. However, he was not a Basque and neither were his parents. From 1910 he worked in Paris where he maintained relations with the group of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque and with the group of the Duchamp brothers (Gaston, Raymond and Marcel) in Puteaux. Tamara Łempicka (born Tamara Rosalia Gurwik-Górska; 16 May 1898 – 18 March 1980), better known as Tamara de Lempicka, was a Polish painter who spent her working life in France and the United States. She is best known for her polished Art Deco portraits of aristocrats and the wealthy, and for her highly stylized paintings of nudes. Born in Warsaw, Lempicka briefly moved to Saint Petersburg where she married Tadeusz Łempicki, a prominent Polish lawyer, then travelled to Paris. Carla Maria Fong Leng Tsang (Rotterdam, 13 August 1937) is a Chinese-Dutch fashion designer. Fong Leng started a fashion boutique in 1969 in the Drugstore at the Nieuwendijk in Amsterdam.
