Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park, formerly known as Schenley Park Golf Course, is located in the rolling hills of Schenley Park between Oakland and Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. It is the only golf course within the city limits. Schenley Park Golf Course (est. 1902) is an 18-hole course. The course is open throughout the year, from early morning until after dark, weather permitting. Four full-sized indoor simulators are available whenever the golf course is open and after dark, by reservation. Individual and group lessons, equipment, pull-cart rentals and a fully stocked pro shop are available, as well as facilities for parties and meetings. It is operated by The First Tee. The course is publicly owned by the City of Pittsburgh and leased to The First Tee who operates the course on their behalf. The First Tee
First Tee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches children life skills, self-confidence, and resilience through golf lessons. Schenley Park
Schenley Park () is a large municipal park located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, between the neighborhoods of Oakland, Greenfield, and Squirrel Hill. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. In 2011, the park was named one of "America's Coolest City Parks" by '' Travel + Leisure''. The park is made up of donated by Mary Schenley in 1889 and another that the city subsequently purchased from her. Robert E. O'Connor Jr. (December 9, 1944 – September 1, 2006) was an American politician who was the Mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from January 3, 2006, until his death. Personal life and early career Born in the Greenfield neighborhood, and a longtime resident of Squirrel Hill, O'Connor graduated from Pittsburgh's Taylor Allderdice High School in 1962 and was inducted into their alumni hall of fame in 2011. He worked briefly as a steelworker, and then entered the restaurant business. He eventually became executive vice-president of the Pappan chain of restaurants in the Pittsburgh area.
