Satara Railway Station
Satara railway station is the main railway station in the Satara district, in the city of Satara, Maharashtra. Its code is STR. The station lies on the Pune–Miraj line of the Central Railways and is administered by the Pune Railway Division. Design The station consists of three platforms. Connection This railway station connects Satara with major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Miraj, Kolhapur, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Goa, and Dhanbad through express trains. There is need of Satara - Thoseghar or Kas - Chiplun new railway line from Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary. This line would connect Satara city with the Konkan region. Also there is need of Satara - Pusegaon - Mhaswad - Pandharpur - Mohol - Solapur new railway line. This line would connect Satara city with pilgrimage centres such as Pandharpur and Gondavale and will also connect Satara with the city of Solapur via Mohol. Satara (city)
Satara () (ISO: Sātārā) is a city located in the Satara District of Maharashtra state of India, near the confluence of the river Krishna and its tributary, the Venna. The city was established in the 16th century and was the seat of the Chhatrapati of Maratha Empire, Shahu I. It is the headquarters of Satara Tehsil, as well as the Satara District. The city gets its name from the seven forts (Sat-Tara) which are around the city. The city is known as a Soldier's city as well as Pensioner's city. The 12779 / 12780 Goa Express is a daily superfast train run by Indian Railways connecting Vasco da Gama and Hazrat Nizamuddin in New Delhi. It is one of the high priority superfast trains of Indian Railways and additionally, a very important train for Hubli division of South Western Railway. The 11029/11030 Koyna Express is one of 3 daily dedicated express trains belonging to Indian Railways that run between Mumbai and Kolhapur in India. Sri Ganganagar – Tiruchchirapali Humsafar Express is a superfast express train of the Indian Railways connecting Sri Ganganagar to Tiruchirappalli, providing connectivity to Rajasthan from Central Tamil Nadu. Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus (officially Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus) (station code: KOP) is the main railway terminus in the city of Kolhapur, India.
