SaskTel Tankard
The SaskTel Tankard is the Saskatchewan provincial championship for men's curling. The tournament is run by CURLSASK, the provincial curling association. The winner represents Team Saskatchewan at the Tim Hortons Brier. It is also known as the SaskTel Provincial Men's Championship. SaskTel became the sponsor in 2004 when it was known as the SaskTel Mobility Tankard. Whitewood, Saskatchewan
Whitewood is a town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located approximately east of Regina on the Trans-Canada Highway Sk Hwy 1. It is situated at the crossroads of two major highways systems – the Trans-Canada, which runs east and west, and Sk Hwy 9, which runs north and south from the US border to Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. Shaun Meachem
Shaun Myles Meachem (born October 9, 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Cabri, Saskatchewan. Curling career Meachem grew up in Mayerthorpe, Alberta. He played on a number of teams in Alberta before moving to Saskatchewan in 2009. While in Alberta, Meachem won two World Curling Tour events: the Rainbow Cashspiel in 2004, playing lead for Rob Armitage and again in 2005 playing second for Chris Schille. After moving to Saskatchewan, Meachem began curling competitively again in 2012, playing third for Max Kirkpatrick. Meachem played in his first Saskatchewan men's provincial at the 2013 SaskTel Tankard, but the Kirkpatrick rink would not make the playoffs. The next season, they again failed to make the playoffs at the 2014 SaskTel Tankard. Adam Casey (curler)
Adam Adrian Casey (born August 28, 1989) is a Canadian curler originally from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He currently skips his own team. Career As a junior, Casey played in Prince Edward Island as the third on the Brett Gallant junior men's team. As a member of the team, Casey won 5 straight provincial junior championships from 2006 to 2010 inclusively. In 2007, they won a bronze medal at the Canada Winter Games. The team won the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and won a silver medal at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships. After juniors in 2010, Casey moved to Nova Scotia to play third for the Chris Sutherland rink. The team made it to the 2011 Nova Scotia Men's Molson Provincial Championship, but they were eliminated before the playoffs. Steve Laycock
Stephen "Steve" Laycock (born October 29, 1982 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon. He currently skips his own team out of Saskatoon. Career In 2003, Laycock skipped Team Saskatchewan to a Canadian Junior Curling Championship and a World Junior Curling Championship. Until 2007 he tried repeatedly to skip a team to the provincial men's championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006, but was unsuccessful in all of his attempts. In 2006 he joined up with Pat Simmons as his lead, and finally won a provincial championship with him in 2007. He would win again in 2008 and once more in 2011, this time throwing third stones and calling the game for Simmons. Simmons left the team at the end of the 2010-11 season, leaving Laycock to find a replacement third. Laycock announced the addition of Joel Jordison to his team for the 2011-2012 season. Dallan Muyres (born February 25, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He currently skips his own team. He grew up in St. Gregor, Saskatchewan. Career Juniors Muyres was a member of the Brennen Jones rink at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, which lost in the tiebreaker match. Men's After juniors, briefly skipped his own team in 2010, making it to the 2010 SaskTel Tankard, the provincial men's championship in Saskatchewan. There, the led his team of Matt Ryback, Dan Marsh and Aaron Shutra to three wins, before losing a third game in the triple knockout tournament. The next season, he joined the Pat Simmons team, throwing lead rocks. The rink won one World Curling Tour event, the Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic and made the quarterfinals at the 2011 BDO Canadian Open of Curling. Dustin Kidby
Dustin "Deuce" Kidby (born May 26, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. He most recently threw lead rocks for Team Matt Dunstone. Career Juniors Kidby represented Saskatchewan at two Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The first was the 2002 Canadian Juniors, playing lead for Team Kyle George. They finished the event with a 7-5 record. George won the Canadian Juniors in 2005 (without Kidby), but invited him to be the alternate for Team Canada at the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships. The team won the gold medal at the event, and Kidby would play in two matches. Kidby returned to the Canadian Juniors in 2006, playing lead for Team Mitch Heidt. This team also finished with a 7-5 record. In university, Kidby played second for the University of Regina, on a team skipped by Byron Moffatt.
