Dallan Muyres
Dallan Muyres (born February 25, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He currently skips his own team. He grew up in St. Gregor, Saskatchewan. Career Juniors Muyres was a member of the Brennen Jones rink at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, which lost in the tiebreaker match. Men's After juniors, briefly skipped his own team in 2010, making it to the 2010 SaskTel Tankard, the provincial men's championship in Saskatchewan. There, the led his team of Matt Ryback, Dan Marsh and Aaron Shutra to three wins, before losing a third game in the triple knockout tournament. The next season, he joined the Pat Simmons team, throwing lead rocks. The rink won one World Curling Tour event, the Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic and made the quarterfinals at the 2011 BDO Canadian Open of Curling. Humboldt, Saskatchewan
Humboldt is a city in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located 113 km east of Saskatoon at the junction of Highway 5 and Highway 20. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Humboldt No. 370. 2012 The Masters Grand Slam Of Curling
The 2012 Masters Grand Slam of Curling was held from November 14 to 18 at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, the Brantford Golf & Curling Club, the Paris Curling Club, and the Brant Curling Club in Brantford and Paris, Ontario as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. The majority of the women's Tier I round robin games and some of the men's Tier I round robin games was held at the Brantford Golf & Curling Club, while the remainder of the Tier I games and the playoffs round games were held at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Grand Slam (curling)
The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels. The Grand Slam season consists of six men's and women's events. The original four events (Masters, Open, National, and Players' Championship) are considered to be "majors". Steve Laycock
Stephen "Steve" Laycock (born October 29, 1982 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon. He currently skips his own team out of Saskatoon. Career In 2003, Laycock skipped Team Saskatchewan to a Canadian Junior Curling Championship and a World Junior Curling Championship. Until 2007 he tried repeatedly to skip a team to the provincial men's championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006, but was unsuccessful in all of his attempts. In 2006 he joined up with Pat Simmons as his lead, and finally won a provincial championship with him in 2007. He would win again in 2008 and once more in 2011, this time throwing third stones and calling the game for Simmons. Simmons left the team at the end of the 2010-11 season, leaving Laycock to find a replacement third. Laycock announced the addition of Joel Jordison to his team for the 2011-2012 season. 2011 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2011 Tim Hortons Brier, the Canadian men's national curling championship, was held March 5 until March 13, 2011 at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario. This event marked the 30th time that the province of Ontario has hosted the Brier since it began in 1927 in Toronto, Ontario and the first time a Bronze Medal Game was added to the playoffs. In the final, Manitoba's Jeff Stoughton defeated Ontario's Glenn Howard 8–6. Team Manitoba were nearly perfect in the game, curling a record 96%. The team led 4–2 after 5, and stole two points in the sixth to take a 6–2 lead, after Howard was light on a draw. Stoughton's win was the first win for Manitoba in 12 years, when he last won the event, and was the 27th title for the province. A total of 8,261 spectators were on hand to watch the final. 2011 BDO Canadian Open Of Curling (January)
The 2011 BDO Canadian Open of Curling was held from January 26–30 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario. This event was the third men's Grand Slam event in the 2010-11 curling season. The purse for this event was CAD$100,000. 18 men's teams will be playing for eight quarterfinal spots in a round-robin competition. The competition was marked by an interesting turn of events when the Thomas Ulsrud rink failed to win a game against Peter Corner. Team Ulsrud's loss created an eight-way tie in 2–3 win–loss records, prompting a draw shot challenge and the scheduling of two tiebreakers. Team Ulsrud, as well as Team Corner, Team Middaugh, and Team Higgs, failed to advance in the draw shot challenge, leaving Team Epping, Team Fowler, Team Bice and Team Walchuk to participate in the tiebreakers. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich. Pat Simmons (curler)
Patrick (Pat) "Simms" Simmons (born November 21, 1974 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler. Simmons played on the 2014 and 2015 Canadian champion rink, the latter year as skip. As a skip, he has also represented Saskatchewan in four straight Briers from 2005 to 2008 and again in 2011. He has also represented Alberta twice at the Brier. Career Simmons made it to his first Brier in 2005 after winning his first provincial championship, defeating Daryl Williamson in that year's Saskatchewan final with teammates Jeff Sharp, Chris Haichert and Ben Hebert. At the Brier, he skipped Saskatchewan to a 6–5 finish, in a four-way tie for fifth place, out of the playoffs.
