Sasha Lazard
Sasha Lazard is an American classical crossover singer. Lazard was born in New York City and grew up in Paris. She attended Bennington College and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied opera, but after graduation pursued a more electronic-influenced sound which was inspired by the local nightclub scene. She performed her new music at several clubs in New York, Los Angeles, and Ibiza before recording an album. Lazard released her debut album ''The Myth Of Red,'' was produced by Frank Fitzpatrick, through Higher Octave Music. This album, loosely themed around the myth of Inanna descending to the underworld, appeared on the ''Billboard'' charts for both dance music and classical crossover. It features versions of ''Ave Maria'' entitled ''Ode to Innocence'', and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's ''Stabat Mater''. Crossover (music)
Crossover is a term applied to musical works or performers who appeal to different types of audience. This can be seen, for example, (especially in the United States) when a song appears on two or more of the record charts which track differing musical styles or genres. If the second chart combines genres, such as a " Hot 100" list, the work is not a ''crossover''. In some contexts the term "crossover" can have negative connotations associated with cultural appropriation, implying the dilution of a music's distinctive qualities to appeal to mass tastes. For example, in the early years of rock and roll, many songs originally recorded by African-American musicians were re-recorded by white artists such as Pat Boone in a more toned-down style, often with changed lyrics, that lacked the hard edge of the original versions. Antonio Cesti
Pietro Marc'Antonio Cesti () (baptism 5 August 162314 October 1669), known today primarily as an Italian composer of the Baroque era, was also a singer (tenor), and organist. He was "the most celebrated Italian musician of his generation". Biography He was born at Arezzo, and studied with various local musicians. In 1637 he joined the Order of Friars Minor, or Franciscans, a Roman Catholic religious group founded by Francis of Assisi. While he was in Volterra he turned more toward secular music, perhaps due to the patronage and influence of the powerful Medici family. Here he also came in contact with Salvator Rosa, who wrote libretti for a number of Cesti's cantatas. By 1650 Cesti's calling as a Franciscan friar and his success as a singer and composer for operas was coming into conflict, and he was officially reprimanded. "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" is a song by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It is the final track on their second studio album, '' The Bends'' (1995). Peter Asher, (born 22 June 1944) is an English guitarist, singer, manager and record producer.
