"Street Spirit (Fade Out)" is a song by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It is the final track on their second studio album, '' The Bends'' (1995). It was released as a single on 22 January 1996 and reached number five on the UK Singles Chart, Radiohead's highest position up to that point. It has been covered by acts including Peter Gabriel and the Darkness. Composition Songwriter Thom Yorke said "Street Spirit" was inspired by the American band R.E.M. and the 1991 novel ''The Famished Road'' by Ben Okri. It features a guitar arpeggio written by Yorke and played by Ed O'Brien. In 2018, ''Pitchfork'' wrote that the song "channels a sense of capitalist dread that even class-conscious Britpop artists repressed". A broken chord is a chord broken into a sequence of notes. A broken chord may repeat some of the notes from the chord and span one or more octaves. "Creep" is the debut single by the English rock band Radiohead, released on 21 September 1992. It appeared on their debut studio album, ''Pablo Honey'' (1993). Britpop
Britpop was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness. It produced brighter, catchier alternative rock, partly in reaction to the popularity of the darker lyrical themes of the US-led grunge music and to the UK's own shoegaze music scene.
