Sarah Hagen
Sarah Marie Hagen (born November 18, 1989) is a retired professional soccer player who is currently an assistant coach for the Green Bay Glory in the USL W League. She previously played for Houston Dash, Orlando Pride, FC Kansas City and the German club FC Bayern Munich. In 2014, she earned two caps for the United States national team. Early life Hagen is the daughter of Michele and Charlie Hagen. She was a soccer all-state selection for three years at Appleton North High School. At age 15, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and underwent a series of surgeries and chemotherapy. She had her last surgery on May 6, 2005. Milwaukee Panthers, 2008–2011 Hagen attended the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and played soccer for the Milwaukee Panthers. Milwaukee Panthers
The Milwaukee Panthers are the athletic teams of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. A total of 13 Panthers athletic teams compete in NCAA Division I. The Panthers have won the James J. McCafferty Trophy as the Horizon League's all-sports champions six times since 2000. History UWM's athletic teams are nicknamed the Panthers. The DFB-Pokal Frauen is the main national women's football cup competition in Germany, thus the female counterpart to the DFB-Pokal. It was created in 1980, and since 1991 includes Eastern teams as well. The most recent champions are VfL Wolfsburg (five consecutive titles). FFC Frankfurt has won the most titles with nine. The final has, with the exception of the 1983 final, always been held on the same day prior to the men's final. Since 1985 the final has thus been held in Berlin. The Philadelphia Independence was an American professional soccer club that was based in the Philadelphia suburb of Chester, Pennsylvania. The team joined Women's Professional Soccer as an expansion team in 2010 and played its home games at West Chester University's John A. Farrell Stadium. Draft (sports)
A draft is a process used in some countries (especially in North America) and sports (especially in closed leagues) to allocate certain players to teams. In a draft, teams take turns selecting from a pool of eligible players. When a team selects a player, the team receives exclusive rights to sign that player to a contract, and no other team in the league may sign the player. The process is similar to round-robin item allocation. The best-known type of draft is the entry draft, which is used to allocate players who have recently become eligible to play in a league. Depending on the sport, the players may come from college, high school or junior teams, or teams in other countries. An entry draft is intended to prevent expensive bidding wars for young talent and to ensure that no team can sign contracts with all of the best young players and make the league uncompetitive. Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) was the top-level professional women's soccer league in the United States. It began play on March 29, 2009. The league was composed of seven teams for its first two seasons and fielded six teams for the 2011 season, with continued plans for future expansion. The WPS was the highest level in the United States soccer pyramid for the women's game. On January 30, 2012, the league announced suspension of the 2012 season, citing several internal organization struggles as the primary cause.
