Santi Senesio E Teopompo, Castelvetro Di Modena
Santi Senesio e Teopompo is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the town of Castelvetro di Modena in the province of Modena, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. History This church was a small oratory or small church, that served as the private chapel of the Rangoni family, and was located next to the palace inside the town walls. With the influx of the population to within the protective walls. This became the town's church with the abandonment of Santa Maria del Gherlo, an ancient church (documented 996) which had been located outside the walls. Santi Senesio e Teopompo was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1501. In 1613, a belltower was added. Further restructuring occurred in 1758, and in 1907, the church was restructured in Gothic revival architecture, Gothic style by Carlo Barbieri. Giovanni di Niccolò de Luteri, better known as Dosso Dossi ( 1489–1542), was an Italian Renaissance painter who belonged to the School of Ferrara, painting in a style mainly influenced by Venetian painting, in particular Giorgione and early Titian. From 1514 to his death he was court artist to the Este Dukes of Ferrara and of Modena, whose small court valued its reputation as an artistic centre. He often worked with his younger brother Battista Dossi, who had worked under Raphael. He painted many mythological subjects and allegories with a rather dream-like atmospheres, and often striking disharmonies in colour. Giovanni Muzzioli (10 February 18545 August 1894) was an Italian painter. Biography Muzzioli was born in Modena, after his family had moved from Castelvetro. At the age of 15 years, he began to attend the local Academy of Fine Arts of Modena, working under Antonio Simonazzi and Asioli. At the age of seventeen (1871), years later, he gained the Poletti scholarship entitling him to four years residence in Rome studying at the Accademia di San Luca, working first under professor Podesti, and later after 1874 under professor Coghetti. In Rome, he painted an ''Abraham and Sarah at the court of the Pharaoh'', a painting which he sent back to Modena. Soon thereafter, he moved to Florence, where he remained the rest of his life. After his return to Modena, Muzzioli visited the Paris Exhibition, and there came under the influence of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and began painting subjects from classical history of Greece and Rome.
