Brienza is a town and comune in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. History Brienza was founded around a castle in the 7th century AD, during the Lombard rule of the Duchy of Benevento. Between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there was a mass migration of Brienza residents to the Americas, most notably to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Chicago, in the United States.
