Sangre Azul
''Sangre azul'' is a Venezuelan telenovela developed by José Ignacio Cabrujas and Julio César Mármol and produced by Radio Caracas Television in 1979. Pierina España, José Luis Rodríguez, Jean Carlo Simancas and Carmen Julia Álvarez starred as the protagonists. Plot ''Sangre azul'' is set in mid 19th century Venezuela where a civil war is ongoing. Mariana, the beautiful eldest daughter of the Marquess of Granados, lives her life full of fun and flirtations, until the arrival of Alvaro who she feels attracted to and plans of marrying. But her sister María de los Ángeles also falls in love with him. Although she has a noble heart, Mariana is frowned by her high society for her frivolous behaviour and her need to always be the centre of attention for men. Jose Antonio, a military man, becomes captured by Mariana's personality, and although she begins having feelings for him, she is still in love with Alvaro. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. José Ignacio Cabrujas
José Ignacio Cabrujas Lofiego (July 17, 1937 – October 21, 1995 in Porlamar, Margarita Island) was a Venezuelan playwright, theater director, chronicler, soap opera writer, drama librettist, screenplay writer, radio moderator, humanist and political campaigns designer. He is considered one of the founders and innovators of the modern telenovela genre in Latin America, and is called the "Maestro de las Telenovelas." Early years José Ignacio Cabrujas spent his childhood in the Caracas neighborhood of Catia. His parents were José Ramón Cabruja Esteso and Matilde Lofiego of Cabruja. His original name is "Cabruja" so he was changed when the a story emerged during his tenure in the Teatro Universitario (TU). The confusion arises from the renowned journalist Lorenzo Batallán, who published a note on the Cabrujas' performance at TU, adding an "S". Pierina Legnani (September 30, 1863 – November 15, 1930) was an Italian ballerina considered one of the greatest ballerinas of all time. Biography Legnani was born on September 30, 1863, in Milan and originally studied with famous ballet dancer at La Scala, where she developed her technical expertise. Her professional career took off when she appeared as prima ballerina in the Casati ballet, Salandra, at Alhambra Theatre in London. Jean Carlos Simancas (born July 17, 1949 in Maracaibo) is a Venezuelan theater and television actor popular for his various roles in telenovelas. Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) was a Venezuelan free-to-air television network headquartered in the Caracas neighborhood of Quinta Crespo. It was sometimes referred to as the Canal de Bárcenas.
