Sanat Mehta
Sanat Mehta (18 or 19 April 1925 – 19 August 2015) was an Indian politician and social activist from Gujarat, India. He was associated with Indian National Congress. He served as labour and finance minister of the state. Mehta was elected to Lok Sabha from Surendranagar in 1996. Life Sanat Mehta was born on 18/19 April 1925 in Jesar village of Bhavnagar district in Gujarat. His father was a teacher. He studied at Samaldas College, Bhavnagar where he led Bhavnagar Students Union in 1941. He participated in Quit India Movement in 1942 and was jailed. After independence, he was influenced by socialism and joined movements led by Ram Manohar Lohia and Jayprakash Narayan. In 1958, he entered electoral politics and was elected as Councillor of Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Gujarat
Gujarat (, ) is a state along the western coast of India. Its coastline of about is the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula. Grameen Bank
Grameen Bank ( bn, গ্রামীণ ব্যাংক) is a microfinance organisation and community development bank founded in Bangladesh. It makes small loans (known as microcredit or "grameencredit") to the impoverished without requiring collateral. Grameen Bank originated in 1976, in the work of Professor Muhammad Yunus at University of Chittagong, who launched a research project to study how to design a credit delivery system to provide banking services to the rural poor. In October 1983 the Grameen Bank was authorised by national legislation to operate as an independent bank. The bank grew significantly between 2003 and 2007. Vadodara (), also known as Baroda, is the second largest city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Vadodara district and is situated on the banks of the Vishwamitri River, from the state capital of Gandhinagar. Mahuva is a town and taluka of Bhavnagar District, in the state of Gujarat, India. Located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, Mahuva is known for its mild weather and green, lush surroundings, including many coconut tree plantations. Nirma is a group of companies based in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India, that manufactures products ranging from detergents, soaps, cement, cosmetics, salt, soda ash, LAB and injectables. Karsanbhai Patel, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, started Nirma in 1969 as a one-man operation. History In 1969, Dr. Karsanbhai Patel, a chemist at the Gujarat Government's Department of Mining and Geology manufactured phosphate-free synthetic detergent powder, and started selling it locally. The new yellow powder was priced at ₹3.50 per kg, at a time when HUL's Surf was priced at ₹13. Nirma sold well in Ruppur (Gujarat), Patel's hometown. Career Kalsariya served as a Member of Legislative assembly from Mahuva constituency in Gujarat for its 10th, 11th and 12th legislative assemblies from 1997 to 2012.
