San Joaquin Campo Santo
The San Joaquin Campo Santo is a Catholic cemetery situated in the town of San Joaquin in Iloilo, Philippines. It is a designated as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines together with San Joaquin Church. The cemetery is under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Jaro. History In 1892, the cemetery was established by Augustinian priest, Mariano Vamba. It was declared a National Cultural Treasure in December 2015 by the National Museum of the Philippines and a marker to indicate this designation was installed at the site in August 2016. The park along with the San Joaquin Church, are known as the "San Joaquin Church Complex and Campo Santo of San Joaquin, Iloilo". The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jaro is an archdiocese of the Catholic Church headquartered in Jaro, Iloilo City, the Philippines. It is based with the Jaro Cathedral (officially the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, also the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles) as its seat. The Archdiocese of Jaro is one of the oldest episcopal sees in the country. It was established as a parish in 1587 and was elevated to a diocese by a papal bull of Pope Pius IX on May 27, 1865, according to a document signed by Archbishop Gregorio Martinez, then archbishop of Manila. The San Joaquin Parish Church (Spanish: ''Iglesia Parroquial de San Joaquin''), commonly known as San Joaquin Church, is a Roman Catholic Church in the municipality of San Joaquin, Iloilo, Philippines within the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jaro.
