Samuel Atta Mills
Samuel Atta Mills is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Constituency in the Central Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. Early life and education Mills was born on Thursday 26 April 1956 and hails from Kissi in the Central Region of Ghana. He had his secondary education Mfantsipim School, where he obtained his GCE Certificate. He proceeded to Komenda College where he obtained a Diploma in Education. Following his studies at Komenda, Mills enrolled at Belmont University where he was awarded his BBA in Economics and Accounting in 1984, and his MBA in Finance and Banking in 1986. Career Prior to entering parliament, Mills worked at the Ghana Tourism Development Company as the chief executive officer from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, he joined Panera Bread as a Regional Manager. The Ghana Union Movement is a political party in Ghana. It was founded by Christian Kwabena Andrews who is also the founder of the Life Assembly Worship Center in Accra. During the launch of the party, he declared that he is "new Kwame Nkrumah" and also that the "spirit of Nkrumah is back." The party's agenda received some backing from Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Kwame Nkrumah. 2020 general election Andrews is one of the presidential candidates for the 2020 Ghanaian general election. 2020 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results. The NPP lost its majority in the parliament, winning just as many seats as the opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament with a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) in the position of kingmaker. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a Socialism, socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance. Progressive People's Party (PPP) ( ak, Kɔ anim ɔmanfo Apontow) is a political party in Ghana. It was formed in 2012 by Paa Kwesi Nduom, the presidential candidate for the Convention People's Party in the 2008 general election. 2016 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2016 to elect a President and Members of Parliament. They had originally been scheduled for 7 November 2016, but the date was later rejected by Parliament. Former foreign minister Nana Akufo-Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party was elected President on his third attempt, defeating incumbent President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress.
