Samara (1956 Film)
Samara () also known as Samarah, is a 1956 Egyptian musical action drama film, by director Hasan El-Saifi. Starring in the film is Taheyya Kariokka, Mahmoud Ismail, Muhsen Sarhan, Mohamed El Sebai, and Mahmoud Al Meleji. The plot of the film is about love and crime. A drug smuggler named Sultan (Mahmoud Ismail) fulls in love with a dancer named Samarah (Taheyya Kariokka), and she has no family. He marries her and she starts to work with him and his gang in the drug trade. One of the people in the gang is arrested by the police, causing a disruption for the remaining gang members. Samara (house)
Samara, also known as the John E. Christian House, is a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright located in West Lafayette, Indiana. The home is an example of the Usonian homes that Wright designed. Samara was built from 1954 to 1956 and was still occupied by the original owner, John E. Christian, until he died on July 12, 2015.- History In 1950 John and Kay Christian decided to build a home near Purdue University where they both worked, John as a pharmaceutical chemistry professor and Kay as the social director for the university. After much discussion, they decided that Wright was the architect who suited the ideals for their home. Not knowing how to proceed, John phoned Wright directly at his office and was surprisingly able to speak directly to the famed architect. Over the next six years they worked together both with meetings in West Lafayette, Indiana and at Taliesin, Wright's summer home in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Hasan El-Saifi
Hasan El-Saifi (; 1927–2005) was an Egyptian film director, film producer, and screenplay writer. He worked on nearly 150 Egyptian films. He has various name spellings in English due to transliteration, most commonly Hassan el-Saifi, Hassan El-Seify, and Hassan al-Saifi. Biography Hasan El-Saifi was born on January 13, 1927 in Cairo, Kingdom of Egypt. El-Saifi started his career in film in 1946, by working as an assistant director under Helmy Rafla, and Anwar Wagdi. By 1952, El-Saifi was able to establish his own film production company. His first directed film was named, ''Bear Witness, People'' (released 20 April 1953 in Egypt). His most notable film he directed was ''Samara'' (1956), starring Taheyya Kariokka and Mohsen Sarhan. In the 1970s, he moved to Lebanon (an area later known as Syria) for a few years, where he directed several films. He died on March 25, 2005 in Cairo, after suffering from a heart attack. Taheyya Kariokka
Taheyya Kariokka ( ar, تحية كاريوكا) also Tahiya Carioca (born Badaweya Mohamed Kareem Ali Elnedany), (February 22, 1915 – September 20, 1999) was an Egyptian belly dancer and film actress. Early life Born in the Egyptian town of Ismaïlia to Mohamed Ali Elnedany and Fatma Elzharaa. Her father was a boat merchant who had married 6 times. It is said that Badawiya's father was around 60 years old during the time her mother was in her early twenties. Badawiya was barely able to speak when her father died. After the death of her father, Badaweya was sent to live with her older half-brother Ahmed Ali Elnedany. While there she was tortured, treated like a slave and locked in chains. Mahmoud Ismail (1914–1983; ) was an Egyptian actor of stage and film, a screenplay writer, and a film director. Ismail worked on more than 40 film projects, including acting in some twenty five films and six television series.
