Saku, Estonia
Saku (german: Sack) is a small town ( et, alevik) in Harju County, Estonia, located south from Tallinn, the capital. It is the administrative centre of Saku Parish. Saku had a population of 4,675 on 1 April 2012, which makes it the biggest small town in Estonia. Saku is most known for the Saku Brewery which is one of two biggest breweries in Estonia. It has a railway station on the Tallinn - Viljandi railway line operated by Elron (rail transit). The Vääna River crosses Saku. Saku Manor Saku Manor (german: Sack) traces its history back to 1463. The current manor house was built in 1825-1830 in a neoclassical style, and is possibly designed by the renowned St. Petersburg architect Carlo Rossi. It is one of the finest examples, perhaps the finest, of a neoclassical manor house in Estonia. Elron (rail Transit)
AS Eesti Liinirongid, operating as Elron, is a government-owned passenger train operator in Estonia. The company was founded as a subsidiary of Eesti Raudtee in 1998, and separated shortly thereafter. Prior to 2014, the company operated exclusively the electrified commuter rail system in Harjumaa, and was known until October 2013 as ''Elektriraudtee'', i.e. "the Electrical Railway". On 1 January 2014 Elron took over all domestic passenger train services in Estonia from Edelaraudtee. Jaak Urmet (pseudonym: Wimberg; born 30 January 1979, in Saku, Estonia, Saku) is an Estonian writer. Jaak Urmet studied Estonian philology and history (from 1997 to 2002) at the Tallinn University, Tallinn Pedagogical University and from 2002 to 2004 literary theory (the same university), graduated as M.A. Urmet participated ''Tallinna Noored Tegijad'' (a fellowship of young authors in Tallinn) from 1998 to 2000 and is a member of Young Authors' Association in Tartu since 2000. Juss Laansoo (born 23 April 1983) is an Estonian motorcycle racer. He was born in Tallinn. He started his motorsport training in 1990 under the guidance of his father. In 2002 he won Juniors Motocross European Championships. Evelin Ilves (''née'' Int, formerly Int-Lambot; born 20 April 1968) is the second wife of President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves. She was the First Lady of Estonia from 9 October 2006 until their divorce on 30 April 2015. She was president of the Estonian Rollerskating Federation from 2008 to 2014. Carlo di Giovanni Rossi (''Karl Ivanovich Rossi''; russian: Карл Иванович Росси; – ) was an Italian architect who worked in Imperial Russia. He was the author of many classical buildings and architectural ensembles in Saint Petersburg and its environs. Biography Carlo Rossi was born in Naples (his stepfather was the famous ballet artist Charles le Picq) and was brought to Russia in his childhood when his mother Guertroude Rossi-Le Picq, a well-known ballerina, was invited into Russia to perform. Vääna River
Vääna (german: Feyena, Faehna, Fähna) is a village in Harku Parish, Harju County in northern Estonia. It has a population of 266 (as of 1 June 2010). Vääna is located about from the capital Tallinn. Vääna Manor The oldest recorded mention of the place (''Feyena'') has been dated to 1325. At this time, there was a fortified manor or a castle at the site, the remains of which were reconstructed and expanded in a romantic fashion during the 19th century but are still visible in the manor park. The present manor house was commissioned by the Baltic German von Stackelberg family and built 1784-1797. It was designed by an anonymous Italian architect in late baroque style. Viljandi
Viljandi (, german: Fellin, sv, Fellin) is a town and municipality in southern Estonia with a population of 17,407 in 2019. It is the capital of Viljandi County and is geographically located between two major Estonian cities, Pärnu and Tartu. The town was first mentioned in 1283, upon being granted its town charter by Wilhelm von Endorpe. The town became a member of the Hanseatic League at the beginning of the 14th century, and is one of five Estonian towns and cities in the league.
