SSVg Velbert is a German association football club located in Velbert, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded in 1902 as ''Velberter FC 02'' and is the third oldest football club in the region. History Early predecessors Several other predecessor sides figure in the club's history. In 1907 ''Ballspiel-Verein 07 Velbert'' was formed and this team enjoyed early success advancing rapidly through the ranks of the local football leagues. In 1914 it was joined by ''BV Olympia 06 Velbert''. The gymnastics club ''Turner Velberter Turnvereins 1864'' formed its own football department in 1912 and in 1919 ''VFC'' joined that group to form ''VFC 02, Spielabteilung des Velberter Turnvereins 1864'' in a short-lived union that only lasted two years. The Oberliga Niederrhein ( en, Premier League of the Lower Rhine) is a German amateur football division administered by the Football Association of the Lower Rhine, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Lower Rhine state association, the Oberliga is currently a level 5 division of the German football league system. History Until 1956, a total of ten Landesliga divisions, among them three divisions of Landesliga Niederrhein were the highest amateur level in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. After the regular season, the ten Landesliga champions had to play-off for two promotion spots to 2. Oberliga West. Niklas Andersen (born 4 August 1988) is a German former professional footballer who played as a left-back. He is the son of Jørn Andersen. Career Andersen played in the youth system of Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt and Schalke 04. He moved often, due to following his father and coach, Jørn Andersen. In 2005, he gained a foothold in Rot-Weiss Essen's A youth team and was called up in the last season for the Regionalliga team.
