2014–15 Oberliga Niederrhein
The 2014–15 Oberliga Niederrhein was the 59th season of the Oberliga Niederrhein, one of three state association league systems in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, covering its northwestern part. It was the third season of the league as a fifth level of the German football league system. League table The league featured four new clubs for the 2014–15 season with 1. FC Bocholt, VfR Krefeld-Fischeln and VdS Nievenheim promoted from the Landesliga Niederrhein while SSVg Velbert had been relegated from the Regionalliga West. Oberliga Niederrhein
The Oberliga Niederrhein ( en, Premier League of the Lower Rhine) is a German amateur football division administered by the Football Association of the Lower Rhine, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Lower Rhine state association, the Oberliga is currently a level 5 division of the German football league system. History Until 1956, a total of ten Landesliga divisions, among them three divisions of Landesliga Niederrhein were the highest amateur level in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. After the regular season, the ten Landesliga champions had to play-off for two promotion spots to 2. Oberliga West. Upon decision of the superior Western German football association, in 1956 four divisions of Verbandsliga were introduced, one of them being the ''Verbandsliga Niederrhein''. The 2015–16 Regionalliga was the eighth season of the Regionalliga, the fourth under the new format, as the fourth tier of the German football league system. The champions of Regionalliga Nord – SV Werder Bremen II, the champions of the Regionalliga Nordost – 1. FC Magdeburg, and the champions of Regionalliga Bayern – Würzburger Kickers were promoted to the 3. Liga. Borussia Dortmund II, SpVgg Unterhaching and SSV Jahn Regensburg were relegated from 3. Liga. Schwarz-Weiß Essen is a German association football club based in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The side has its origins in the gymnastics club ''Essener Turnerbund'' founded in 1881. A football department was formed in January 1900 and this became a separate entity within the club on 1 July 1974. History In 1933, the club joined the Gauliga Niederrhein, one of sixteen top flight divisions formed in the re-organization of German football under the Third Reich. They played at that level until being relegated in 1943, with their best results being a string of three consecutive second-place finishes between 1937 and 1940. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen is a German association football club in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was formed as ''Oberhausener SV'' in December 1904 out of the merger of ''Emschertaler SV'' (1902) and the football enthusiasts of ''Oberhausener TV 1873''. History ''TuS Bösinghoven'' was founded in 1964 and played throughout its early history at the local level. In the mid-2000s, Christoph Peters took over the management of the association and oversaw a steady improvement in the fortunes of the club, including three consecutive promotions that brought ''TuS'' from Kreisliga (IX) play, through the Berzirksliga Niederrhein (VIII), to the Landesliga Niederrhein (VII) in 2009.
