Oberliga Niederrhein
The Oberliga Niederrhein ( en, Premier League of the Lower Rhine) is a German amateur football division administered by the Football Association of the Lower Rhine, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Lower Rhine state association, the Oberliga is currently a level 5 division of the German football league system. History Until 1956, a total of ten Landesliga divisions, among them three divisions of Landesliga Niederrhein were the highest amateur level in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. After the regular season, the ten Landesliga champions had to play-off for two promotion spots to 2. Oberliga West. Upon decision of the superior Western German football association, in 1956 four divisions of Verbandsliga were introduced, one of them being the ''Verbandsliga Niederrhein''. Oberliga Nordrhein
The Oberliga Nordrhein was the highest Football League in the region of Nordrhein which is part of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1978 to 2008. In its last season, it was one of nine Oberligas in German football, the 4th tier of the German football league system. In 2008, it was replaced by the NRW-Liga (Oberliga Nordrhein-Westfalen), a new statewide league. Overview The league was formed in 1978 as a highest level of play for the two regions of Mittelrhein and Niederrhein, which cover the western half of the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen. The main reason for the creation of this league was to allow its champion direct promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga Nord rather than having to go through a promotion play-off. FC Remscheid is a German association football club from Remscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia formed on 1 July 1990 out of the merger of ''BV Lüttringhausen'' and ''VfB Marathon Remscheid''. History Predecessor side ''Marathon'' was formed in 1906 and ''BV Lüttringhausen'' was founded 25 October 1908 in the northern city district of the same name. ''VfB'' merged with a club called ''BV Remscheid'' in 1971 while ''Lüttringhausen'' became the similarly named ''BVL 08 Remscheid'' in July 1985. Both clubs played primarily as third division sides, although ''BVL Lüttringhausen'' enjoyed three seasons in the 2. Bundesliga in the 80s (1982–84 and 1987–88). SG Union Solingen was a German association football club from Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia. History The side can trace its roots back to an earlier ''Union Solingen'' club founded in 1897 out of the merger of a number of clubs from the district of Ohligs that would over time include ''Ohligs FC 06'', ''VfR Ohligs'', ''Walder Ballspielverein'', and ''BV Adler Ohligs''. Of the club's predecessor sides only ''VfR Ohligs'' would distinguish itself with any time spent in first-division football when they played the 1940–41 season in the Gauliga Niederrhein before being relegated on the heels of last place finish. KFC Uerdingen 05 is a German football club in the Uerdingen district of the city of Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. The former Bundesliga side enjoyed its greatest successes in the 1980s but now plays in the fifth-level Oberliga. History The club was founded on 17 November 1905 as Fußball-Club Uerdingen 05. On 1 August 1919, following World War I, FC was joined by Sportvereinigung des Realgymnasiums Uerdingen. SSVg Velbert is a German association football club located in Velbert, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded in 1902 as ''Velberter FC 02'' and is the third oldest football club in the region. The Nordrhein-Westfalen-Liga (''North Rhine-Westphalia League''; NRW-Liga) was the highest football league in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) from 2008 to 2012. It was one of the eleven Oberliga groups in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. With the reorganisation of the German league system in 2012, the NRW-Liga was disbanded once more as the Regionalliga West above it would then only contain clubs from North Rhine-Westphalia.
