S. K. Padmadevi
S. K. Padmadevi (1924 – 19 September 2019) was an Indian actress in the Kannada and Tamil film industries. Padmadevi started working in Kannada theatre in 1930 and remained active on stage till 1960. Later she was associated with All India Radio for two decades. She participated in “Bhakta Sudhama” by Kalaivani. The song “Yadukulanandanane” she sang in “Bhakta Sudhama” became popular at that time. Personal life She was married to Padmanabha Rao, a theatre artist. Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. ''Bhakta Dhruva'' ( kn, ಭಕ್ತ ಧೃವ) is a 1934 Indian Kannada language Mythological devotional film directed by Parshwanath Altekar and produced by U. L. Narayana Rao. Although this was the very first talkie film to go under production, it released as the second film after '' Sati Sulochana'' in the same year. The film was made at the Ajanta Studio in Mumbai and premiered at the "Select Cinema" hall in Bangalore. Based on the play by Ratnavali Natak Company, the film was made by the Marathi stage and film director, as a tribute to the Karnataka theater personality, A. V. Varadachar, who died in 1933. ''Samsara Nauke'' ( kn, ಸಂಸಾರ ನೌಕ) is a 1936 Indian Kannada language social drama film directed by H. L. N. Simha and produced by K. Nanjappa. This film was the fourth sound film produced in Kannada cinema and the first melodrama film based on social issues. The film met with huge success at the box-office upon release and was subsequently released in Tamil in 1948 with the same star cast. The investment was Rs.33000 and became a commercial success as it earned Rs. 2.5 lakhs. The film cast consisted of B. R. Panthulu and M. V. ''Malgudi Days'' is an Indian television series that started in 1986, and was filmed in both English (first 13 episodes) and Hindi (all 54 episodes), based on the 1943 short story collection of the same name by R.
