S. Albert Kivinen
Seppo Albert Kivinen (19 October 1933, in Ikaalinen - 13 August 2021) was a Finnish author and doctor of philosophy and docent emeritus of University of Helsinki, known for his occult interests and study of monsters. He is a onetime winner of the Atorox Award for best Finnish short story, for his Lovecraftian pastiche ''Keskiyön Mato Ikaalisissa''. Kivinen is a well known fixture in Finnish academia and a proponent of the study of the history of the occult with a sceptical bent. Personal history Kivinen did his dissertation 1977 in the University of Helsinki in theoretical philosophy. He worked as the chairman of the Finland–Mongolia society in the early 1970s and as a member of the board of trustees of the Finnish Parapsychological society 1972–1974 and the Transscendentaaliradieastrian society during 1974–1987. Ikaalinen
Ikaalinen (; sv, Ikalis) is a town and municipality of Finland. It is part of the Pirkanmaa region, located northwest of Tampere. The town has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . Atorox Award
The Atorox Award (Finnish: ''Atorox-palkinto'', Swedish: ''Atoroxpriset'') is the oldest science fiction literature award in Finland. It is given annually to the best science fiction short story. The name "Atorox" comes from the works of Aarne Haapakoski (1904–1961), who was one of the first science fiction writers in Finland. The award is given by the Turku Science Fiction Society but the winner is selected by representatives of the entire Finnish fandom. It has been awarded annually since 1983. In metaphysics, ontology is the philosophical study of being, as well as related concepts such as existence, becoming, and reality.
