Rudy Concepción
Rodolfo Joaquín Concepción, (1912 – 1940) was a popular Filipino film actor during the 1930s. He was dubbed ''Ang Idolong Kayumanggi'' (Brown Idol). Career Concepción made his film debut in 1935, in ''Kundiman ng Puso'' (''Song of the Heart''). He was often paired romantically in films with the soprano Rosario Moreno, with whom he co-starred in ''Mapait na Lihim'' (1938). Concepcion himself was also a notable singer, with a distinctive singing style. Unusual for actors of the time, his own singing voice was used. After six movies for Sampaguita Pictures, becoming one of its most bankable stars, Concepción signed with another production company Excelsior Pictures, where he made ''Pakiusap'', ''Ikaw Pa Rin'', ''Tunay Na Ina'' (opposite Rosario Moreno), and his last unfinished movie ''Mahal Pa Rin Kita''. Nicanor Tiongson
Nicanor G. Tiongson is a critic, creative writer and academic from the Philippines. He holds a Bachelor of Humanities degree from the Ateneo de Manila University, and M.A. and Ph.D. in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines. A founding member of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, Tiongson is currently Professor Emeritus of Film and Audio-visual Communication at the College of Mass Communication in U.P. Diliman. Sampaguita Pictures was a Philippine film production company. It was named for the Philippine national flower, sampaguita. Though no longer functioning, the company's Sampaguita Compound remains in Quezon City. History Sampaguita Pictures was established in the last quarter of 1937. Its first feature-length film was ''Bituing Marikit'', starring Elsa Oria and Rogelio dela Rosa. It was a box-office hit. The company continued to make films in the action, musical, horror and suspense genres. Before World War II began, and the Japanese occupied the Philippines, several Sampaguita films enjoyed box office success in the region. Consuello Vera Rigotti (December 3, 1922 – February 18, 2012), professionally known as Linda Estrella, was a Filipina actress and singer, best known as one of the players of Sampaguita Pictures. Biography Consuello Vera Rigotti was born on December 3, 1922 to Jose Alcala Rigotti a Filipino of Italian descent from Albay and a Filipina mother Francisca Vera from Catanduanes. She grew up in Catanduanes and when they moved to Manila, she obtained a degree in Home Economics at Philippine Women's University. Her uncle was Judge Jose Vera the founder of Sampaguita Pictures and filmmaker Marichu Vera-Perez is her niece. She was married to Dr. Adriano Acgoili Agana, with whom she adopted three children over the years, Tessie, Maria Lourdes, and a third child who is deceased.
