Ric Blaxill
Richard Eric Blaxill (born 19 July 1962) is a British radio and TV music producer and music programming director. Early life Career Radio 1 From 1988 to 1994, he was producer/senior producer at BBC Radio 1. Top of the Pops From 1994 to 1997, he was producer and executive producer for BBC 1's ''Top of the Pops'', and later A&R director for Independiente Records. He was largely responsible for livening the format of the programme into its final incarnation. His boss was David Liddiment. ITV From 1998 to 2000, he was the development and series producer for ''SMTV Live'' and '' CD:UK'' and development and series producer for ''Friday Night's All Wright'' with Ian Wright, then from 2000 until 2001, he was creative director on Stormlive Digital and Internet Radio. He became series producer for LWT/Sky's '' The Pop Years'', a music documentary series looking at the years 1980 to 1999. BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. The station provides alternative genres at night, including electronica, dance, hip hop and indie, while its sister station 1Xtra plays black contemporary music, including hip hop and R&B. Radio 1 also runs two online streams, Radio 1 Dance, dedicated to dance music, and Radio 1 Relax, dedicated to chill-out music; both are available to listen only on BBC Sounds. Radio Academy Awards
The Radio Academy Awards, started in 1983, were the most prestigious awards in the British radio industry. For most of their existence, they were run by ZAFER Associates, but in latter years were brought under the control of The Radio Academy. The awards were generally referred to by the name of their first sponsor, Sony, as The Sony Awards, The Sony Radio Awards or variations. In August 2013, Sony announced the end of its sponsorship agreement with The Radio Academy after 32 years. Consequently, the awards were named simply ''The Radio Academy Awards''. In November 2014, it was announced that The Radio Academy would not be holding the awards in 2015, and would be looking for other ways to recognise achievement in the future. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. Bengeo
Bengeo is a suburb and former village and civil parish on the northwest edge of the county town of Hertford in Hertfordshire, England. It is an electoral ward of Hertford. In 1891 the parish had a population of 2586. In 1894 the parish was abolished to form Bengeo Rural and Bengeo Urban. Toponym Bengeo is on a rise between the River Beane and River Rib overlooking Hartham Common. Its toponym is derived from an Old English name meaning spur or ridge over the River Beane. The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as ''Belingehou''. It evolved through forms including ''Beneggho'' and ''Beningho'' in the 13th century, ''Bengeho'' in the 15th century and ''Benjow'' in the 16th century before reaching its current form. Capital London is a radio station owned and operated by the Global media company as part of its national Capital FM Network. As Capital Radio it was launched in the London area in 1973 as one of Britain's first two commercial radio stations. Its brief was to entertain, while its opposite number, London Broadcasting (LBC), was licensed to provide news and information. In search of a larger audience in 1974, Capital Radio rapidly moved from a general and entertainment station with drama, features, documentaries and light music to a more successful pop music-based format. In 1988 it became two stations: 95.8 Capital FM and Capital Gold.
