Rapsodies
''Rapsodies'' ( el, Ραψωδίες) is an album of Greek songs by Irene Papas and Vangelis, featuring music and text based on (or inspired by) Greek Orthodox liturgical chant, with two tracks composed by Vangelis. Recorded in Nemo studios, London 1986 (the last year he used that studio), the entirety of the album is performed and produced by Vangelis with Irene Papas' lead vocals. First issue of the album on compact disc was in Greece only (Polydor 829413). A remastered edition was released by Universal Music in 2007. Irene Papas
Irene Papas or Irene Pappas ( el, Ειρήνη Παππά, Eiríni Pappá, ; born Eirini Lelekou ( el, Ειρήνη Λελέκου, Eiríni Lelékou, link=no); 3 September 1929 – 14 September 2022) was a Greek actress and singer who starred in over 70 films in a career spanning more than 50 years. She gained international recognition through such popular award-winning films as '' The Guns of Navarone'' (1961), '' Zorba the Greek'' (1964) and '' Z'' (1969). She was a powerful protagonist in films including ''The Trojan Women'' (1971) and ''Iphigenia'' (1977). She played the title roles in ''Antigone'' (1961) and '' Electra'' (1962). She had a fine singing voice, on display in the 1968 recording ''Songs of Theodorakis''. ''Odes'' is an album of Greek folk songs by Irene Papas and Vangelis. All of the songs are traditional, except two which are original compositions by Vangelis. ''Invisible Connections'' is a 1985 album by Greek electronic composer Vangelis. Track listing The track listing of the original 1985 LP and all reissues until 2016 appeared as follows: # "Invisible Connections" – 18:30 # "Atom Blaster" – 7:50 # "Thermo Vision" – 13:19 Although it was quite noticeable that the title track had two distinct parts separated by silence, while the two shorter tracks were extremely similar in style, there was no other indication of any errors in the mastering, pressing, or labeling of the album. However, with the release in 2016 of the ''Delectus'' box set containing CD reissues of a selection of Vangelis albums remastered by the composer, it was discovered that the two sides of the album had, in fact, been reversed all along: the true "Invisible Connections" had been split into two tracks and placed on side B, while "Atom Blaster" and "Thermo Vision" had been combined into one track and placed on side A. ''Direct'' is a studio album by the Greek electronic composer Vangelis, released in 1988. The album marks a new development in Vangelis' music, during which Vangelis moved his creative base from London to Athens in Greece, and it was his first album recorded in Athens after relocation from London. Overview According to the album sleeve notes the album and its title are inspired by Vangelis' method of composing and recording, relying on spontaneity, with the compositional and recording process occurring simultaneously in the studio. This process was largely facilitated by the use of full spectrum of sound in the mixing and mastering process, due to custom MIDI performance systems designed for Vangelis and the Zyklus MIDI Performance System which was developed by technicians Bill Marshall and Pete Kellock.
