Ramsey Nasr
Ramsey Nasr (born 28 January 1974, Rotterdam) is a Dutch author and actor of mixed descent, half Palestinian, half Dutch. He was '' Dichter des Vaderlands'' (Poet of the Fatherland; an unofficial title for the Dutch poet laureate) between January 2009 and January 2013. The concept of this was created by the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad, the Nederlandse Programma Stichting and the foundation Poetry International in January 2000. Before Ramsey was Poet of the City of Antwerp, Belgium, in 2005. In 2005 he received the Hugues C. Pernath-prijs. In June 2014, an adaptation for the stage (in Dutch) of Ayn Rand's novel ''The Fountainhead'' ( Toneelgroep Amsterdam) was presented at the Holland Festival, directed by Ivo van Hove, with Ramsey Nasr as Howard Roark. ''Goltzius and the Pelican Company'' is a 2012 historical film by writer-director Peter Greenaway. Plot The film is based on the life of Hendrik Goltzius, a late 16th-century Dutch printer and engraver of erotic prints. He seduces the Margrave of Alsace into paying for a printing press to make and publish illustrated books. Goltzius promises him an extraordinary book of pictures of the Old Testament Biblical stories. Anne Vegter
Anne Vegter (born 31 December 1958, Delfzijl) is a Dutch poet, playwright and writer of children's literature. She is the first woman to hold the position of Dichter des Vaderlands (Dutch Poet Laureate). Early life Vegter attended a gymnasium in Drachten and Epe. She studied art history and pedagogy in at the Academie voor Expressie door Woord en Gebaar in Utrecht in the late seventies. In 1976, she worked in a psychiatric institution. In 1977, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Career Poetry and writing In 1989, she published her first children's book ''De dame en de neushoorn'' with illustrations by Geerten Ten Bosch. For this book they were awarded the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs in 1990. The main characters in this book were first introduced in the children's magazine ''St. Kitts van de Bovenwindse''.
