Ryan McMahon (comedian)
Ryan McMahon is an Anishinaabe comedian, podcaster, and writer from the Couchiching First Nation. McMahon was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, the oldest of three siblings. McMahon was the first in his family to graduate from high school. He attended the University of Minnesota on a full hockey scholarship and graduated from the Second City Training Center. He was the host of the 2018 Canadaland podcast ''Thunder Bay'', and its upcoming television documentary adaptation, also titled ''Thunder Bay''. Couchiching First Nation
The Couchiching First Nation ( oj, Gojijiing Anishinaabeg) is a Saulteaux First Nation band government in the Canadian province of Ontario, who live on the Couchiching 16A and Agency 1 reserves in the Rainy River District near Fort Frances. History Ancestors of the Couchiching First Nation were collectively known as ''Gojijiwininiwag'' (Couchiching-men) or as Rainy Lake and River Bands of Saulteaux—"couchiching" (''gojijiing'') being the Ojibwe word meaning "At the Inlet", referring to Rainy Lake known in Ojibwe as ''Gojiji-zaaga'igan'' (Inlet Lake). Originally, members of the Couchiching First Nation resided further west and others were voyageurs from the east until they moved to the Fort Frances area in the late 19th century to avoid the Louis Riel Rebellion. Jesse Benjamin Brown is a Canadian journalist, media personality, and businessperson. In 2013, he founded the ''Canadaland'' podcast that grew into a podcasting company. Brown's 2014 investigative reports with Kevin Donovan, published by the ''Toronto Star'', focussed on various women who claimed to have endured non-consensual violent conduct and workplace sexual harassment from Canadian radio and television personality Jian Ghomeshi.
