Ruś Szlachtowska
Ruś Szlachtowska (''Shlakhtov Ruthenia'') was a name introduced in 1930s by Prof. Roman Reinfuss to denote the region surrounding the villages of Jaworki, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Biała and Jaworki, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Czarna Woda, Jaworki, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Jaworki, and Szlachtowa in the Grajcarek valley in the Pieniny mountains, in the Nowy Targ County of southern Poland. The region was the westernmost area inhabited by Lemkos. It was separated from the rest of the Lemko Region by the Polish-dominated Poprad valley which led to isolation of the local population and its gradual assimilation with Polish people, Poles and Slovaks, until Operation Vistula in 1947, when the Lemkos were deported together with the Ukrainians and Boykos to other areas of Poland and to the Soviet Union. Podhale (; ), sometimes referred to as the Polish Highlands, is Poland's southernmost region. The Podhale is located in the foothills of the Tatra range of the Carpathian Mountains. The Boykos or Boikos (; ; ; ), or simply Highlanders (; ), are an ethnolinguistic group located in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland. Operation Vistula
Operation Vistula (; ) was the codename for the 1947 forced resettlement of close to 150,000 Ukrainians in Poland, Ukrainians (including Rusyns, Boykos, and Lemkos) from the southeastern provinces of People's Republic of Poland, postwar Poland to the Recovered Territories in the west of the country. The action was carried out by the Soviet-installed Polish Polish United Workers' Party, communist authorities to remove material support to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.
