Ruyi Island
Ruyi Island () is an under-construction artificial island approximately northeast of Haidian Island, Haikou, Hainan, China.http://www.zgsyb.com/html/content/2017-04/28/content_631698.shtml The island The island will be approximately long and wide. The bridge The Ruyi Island Bridge connecting the island to the Hainan mainland will be 5.666 km long and 27.5 metres wide. The bridge will have a road and tramway, and will also be used to bring water, electricity, natural gas, and fiber optical cable to the island. It is expected to be completed around June 2019. The staging port On Hainan's mainland, on the east side of the mouth of the Nandu River, a port has been built to store caissons for the bridge. Barges then transport and place the caissons. By the beginning of May, 2017, of the 553 caissons required, 460 had been prefabricated and 400 had been installed. The caissons weigh between 500 and 1,700 tons each. Haikou (; ), also spelled as Hoikow is the capital and most populous city of the Chinese province of Hainan. Haikou city is situated on the northern coast of Hainan, by the mouth of the Nandu River. The northern part of the city is on the Haidian Island, which is separated from the main part of Haikou by the Haidian River, a branch of the Nandu. Administratively, Haikou is a prefecture-level city, comprising four districts, and covering . Haidian Island
Haidian Island () is an island that forms part of the city of Haikou, Hainan Province, China. It is separated from the main part of Haikou by the Haidian River. The north coast faces the Qiongzhou Strait. The east coast faces Xinbu Island, separated by part of the Nandu River. The west coast faces Haikou Bay. Both Renmin Avenue and Heping Avenue are the main streets on the island. The former that runs through the middle of the island from the south at the Renmin Bridge to the north shore at the newly built Baishamen Park, which contains an amusement park. Nandu River
The Nandu River () is the longest river in Hainan Province, China. Its tributary is the Xinwu River. The river discharges into the Nandu River estuary at Haikou city, and then into Qiongzhou Strait. The river is 314 km long, with a discharge of 6.099 billion cubic metres. It passes the major settlements of Chengmai Zhen in Chengmai County then Dingcheng in Ding'an County. The river then turns north, goes over the Longtang Dam at Longtang, a somewhat smaller town than Chengmai and Ding'an. The Nandu then goes under several bridges, such as the Nandu River Iron Bridge and Qiongzhou Bridge. Once passed the Qiongzhou Bridge, at the southern tip of Xinbu Island, the Nandu flows north along the east side of Xinbu Island and out into the sea.
