Rushtown, Ohio
Rushtown is an unincorporated community in Scioto County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. History A post office called Rushtown was established in 1878, and remained in operation until 1959. Besides the post office, Rushtown had a station on the Norfolk and Western Railroad. The confluence of Scioto Brush Creek into the Scioto River at Rushtown has produced a rocky zone within the river known as the Rushtown Riffle A riffle is a shallow landform in a flowing channel. Scioto County is a county located along the Ohio River in the south central region of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 74,008. Its county seat is Portsmouth. The county was founded March 24, 1804, from Adams County and is named for a Native American word referring to deer or deer-hunting.
